Destiny Part 12 (rated r) Catherine arrived at the office at 11:30. Her friends and coworkers gathered around her. They greeted her with hugs and kisses. Baby Jacob stole their hearts as he does with everyone. They spent a wonderful day at the office but all too soon 3:00 was approaching. Catherine knew Vincent would be worried if they were a minute late. Saying goodbye to everyone, she left the office. They told her not to be a stranger. She promised them she would come back for a visit after her baby was born. Catherine and baby Jacob were enjoying a pleasant stroll back home. They were about a half block away from the tunnel entrance when she heard her name. Turning around it was Joe. "Joe what are you doing here?" "Cathy I didn't want to spoil your time at the office to tell you that Stephen Bass escaped from the mental institution last week." "The authorities are looking for him but they have no idea where he could be." "I know how dangerous he is and I didn't want you and your baby out here alone so I followed you." "Thank you for looking out for us Joe." "I am almost home now so we will be all right." "Catherine are you sure?" "Yes Joe I am". "You can go back to the office we will be fine." Catherine didn't want to seem ungrateful but they were too close to the tunnels. "Okay Cathy." "I'll be going than." Giving her a hug, take care of yourself and the little one there." Looking at baby Jacob, "Cathy he is such a beautiful baby." "You and Vincent should be proud." "By the way Cathy will I ever met Vincent?" "Yes Joe we are very proud of our little boy and I promise to take care of both us." "As for Vincent you will meet him one day when the time is right." "Goodbye Joe and thanks for worrying." Smiling at him, you're always so cute when you worry." With those words Catherine continued their journey home. As Catherine was walking she adjusted the baby's blanket. With her head down she did not see the figure dart in front of her until she almost hit him with the stroller. "Hey Cathy, it's been a long time." "I see you have been quite busy ", looking at baby Jacob and her swollen belly. "Stephen what are you doing here?" "Looking for you of course." "Cathy you're a hard person to track down." "Took me about a week to find you." "Stephen I have to be going." Take care of yourself." "No Cathy not yet, blocking her path, I want to see our baby." Catherine was starting to get scared, "Stephen please let us pass." "Cathy you really could be silly at times." "You're going in the wrong direction." "Our house is that way pointing behind her." She didn't know what to do. She was so close to the tunnel entrance maybe she could make run for it with baby Jacob in his stroller. "Stephen Bass I remember you." Catherine heard Joe's voice behind her he hadn't left. "Joe Maxwell it has been a while." "I was just coming to get Cathy and our baby to take them home." "Catherine and the baby do not belong to you Stephen," "She belongs to another and they will not be going home with you." "Oh yeah Joe.' "Who is going to stop us?" "I will not let you take them Stephen", Joe stood in front of Cathy and the baby. "Wanna bet Maxwell and Stephen pulled out a gun. Before Catherine could back up the stroller, Stephen fired at Joe and he fell to the ground. "No Stephen she screamed." "It's time to go home now Cathy." "Let's go, motioning her in the other direction. "Catherine turned the stroller around.'' "As she was walking in front of Stephen going away from the tunnels, she heard the infamous roar of her love. With her back to them she heard Stephen scream just before he ran past her. His gun arm was dangling from his shoulder. Catherine knew Vincent had ripped it from the socket. Going to her, Vincent held her in his arms. "Catherine are you and the babies all right?" "Yes Vincent my love, I was a little scared but we're all right." "However, Joe isn't looking at him on the ground." "Vincent we have to help him." "He knew Stephen had escaped. "He was following us to make sure we made it home safely and look happened to him."
