"Well last night Lisa came to see me, she was upset." "She told me you were so involved with Catherine, you did not see or hear her when she saw you in the tunnels." "And, umm clearing his throat, last night when she came to your chamber, you and Catherine were intimately joined." "You did not know she was there." "You did not hear her approaching." "She could have been an intruder." "We could have been in danger." "I see father." "So what are you suggesting?" "Maybe Catherine should not come Below as often." "Maybe not spend the night here." Vincent was so preoccupied with father's lecture; he did not know Catherine had come to the chamber until he felt her sadness. Turning toward the entrance, he saw her standing there with tears in her eyes. He immediately went to her and hugged her. Looking over Vincent's shoulder, "father I did not know you felt this way about me being here." "If I had known, I would have stayed away." "It is not my intention to endanger anyone Below." "I just wanted to spend time with the man that I love and his family in your beautiful world." As Vincent gently wiped her tears away, "Catherine I am sorry you had to hear this." "I did not feel you approaching." "That is exactly what I mean Vincent, you were so wrapped up in our conversation about Catherine, you did not even know she was near." "I admit I did not sense her coming but I felt her sadness immediately." "Father I will be leave now" "I will not return for a while." Vincent placed his arm around Catherine, "Now father if you will excuse us I am going to walk Catherine to the threshold" and they headed for the exit. "Vincent Catherine please wait?" "I am sorry for what I said." "I was not thinking clearly." "I let Lisa put thoughts in my head." "Vincent I know you would never endanger our world Below and neither would Catherine." Father walked to Catherine than. "Dear please forgive me and stay here with Vincent and your family." She hugged him than. "I will stay father, than you." Vincent heart was warmed by Catherine's easiness to forgive father. He could not wait to be alone with her to tell her. "Father since Catherine is staying we will continue with our plans to go to the falls this morning." "We will see you later at breakfast." "All right Vincent." "Enjoy yourselves." "And Catherine I am truly sorry." Catherine gave father a slight smile of acknowledgment as she and Vincent left his chamber. Once they had gone father sat down at his desk.
