NEW HAVEN - It was announced today that the recipient of the first weekly New York Mets Underachiever of the Week Award went to wide receiver Darrell Jackson. Apart from playing for Seattle, Jackson's other week 1 shortcomings included rushing for a very impressive 1 yard as well as catching enough passes to rack up 7 yards receiving. Mets reliever John Franco, who presented the award behind the parking garage on York Street this morning said, "It's not my fault, I was hurt all season." Jackson's 0 point contribution added to the Ghetto Thugs' embarrassing league-low score of 129 in their loss to Da Beers. Apart from this award, however, Jackson should consider himself lucky as the Ghetto Thugs released both running back Larry Centers and defensive lineman Donnie Edwards on Monday.
