5/26/03 NEW HAVEN - The peasants rejoiced (Yea) in New Haven this morning after the Traffic Cones 444 point performance in week 8 against Speedway, who put up an impressive second best weekly score of 431. The franchise high 444 breaks the old record, set in 2002, by 10 points. Cones GM, Jeff Stanley was overjoyed with the victory, "This was a great series we had with Speedway. I knew it was going to come down to Sunday's scores and we were just fortunate to pull it off. Usually we're on the losing end of this type of situation, but our luck shifted this week." Interestingly enough, and in a bit of a role reversal, in last season's AFL action, it was Speedway GM Ryan Friedman's team that defeated Stanley's New Haven Ghetto Thugs after the Thugs put up a franchise high 214 points only to lose by 6 points to Friedman's Virginia Colony Dogs. The New Haven Traffic Cones also announced their week 9 lineup today. Cones GM Jeff Stanley made several moves this week, causing some significant changes to the Cones' lineup. Most notably is the nod given to starting pitcher Randy Wolf, who becomes the first starter to join the Cones rotation in several weeks. The complete week 9 lineup is as follows: C - Javy Lopez - This guy is on fire.
