5/21/03 NEW HAVEN - In a brief press conference this evening, New Haven Traffic Cones GM Jeff Stanley announced that tonight's game would go on as scheduled, despite the explosion at nearby Yale University. ( http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/Northeast/05/21/yale.explosion/index.html ) "The team is not going to be intimidated by some *explicative* *explicative* who think they are going to impact the American pastime," Stanley said. "This team is 100% American and takes crap from no one. See those flags on our jerseys? I mean, just look at my picture (on Jon's page). I think that just about sums it up." Stanley went on to say that Yale Field was, with the exception of lead paint and asbestos threats, completely safe, and fans should have no inhibitions about attending games at the stadium. As reassurance, however, and in a show of increased security, Coney was given a larger bat in order to beat any potential troublemakers or French. Stanley also added that fans who were apprehensive about attending tonight's game would be given full refunds unless, of course, they are Canadian.
