5/19/03 NEW HAVEN - New Haven Traffic Cones announced their week 8 lineup after some late week 7 changes to the team. The Cones added catcher Javy Lopez, first baseman Brad Fullmer and outfielder Mosies Alou. The big news out of the New Haven clubhouse the week, however, is the return of franchise shortstop Derek Jeter. After personally observing Jeter's performance Sunday against the Texas Rangers, along with 54,941 stupid Yankee fans, T-Cones GM Jeff Stanley decided it was time for Jeter to finally return to the field. He also decided that Fenway is by far a much better ballpark than that dump in the Bronx. Although Jeter adds one more evil Yankee to the lineup, Stanley did bench Yankees import Hideki Matsui and injured goofball Nick Johnson. The moves mark the first time this season that Yankees do not account for the most starters in the Traffic Cones' lineup, as Javy Lopez, Chipper Jones, Rafael Furcal and John Smoltz make the Braves the most popular team in the lineup. The complete week 8 lineup is as follows: C - Javy Lopez - Will he hit 4 more dinggers this week? The magic 8-ball says "outlook is hazy..." 1B - Rafael Palmeiro - Needs to pick it up after his 500th 2B - Jeff Kent - Suprised? 3B - Ramon Vazquez - Third base continues to be a weak spot for the Cones SS - Derek Jeter - Remember this guy? OF - Jim Edmonds - One hit in 5 games!?! At least it was a homerun OF - Raul Mondesi - Two weeks without a homerun. Who's gonna carry the team now? OF - Chipper Jones - It's pronounced "Chippahhh" OF - Moises Alou - Cubbie joins the Cones CI - Brad Fullmer - Another new Coney MI - Rafael Furcal - 14 runs last week? OK, he can start Util - Mike Cameron - Keeps his utility role Util - Richard Hidalgo - Another week for this 'Stro RP - John Smoltz - Mets series starts Friday...that should be good for a few saves RP - Tim Worrell - The man in SanFran RP - Eric Gagne - 4 earned runs?
