3/3/03 New Haven - New Haven Traffic Cones owner Jeff Stanley introduced a new member of the team at this afternoon's press conference. "Coney" the mascot was introduced as the Cones 28th member. "Designed in conjunction with Commissioner Freidman, and in the spirit of the Springfield Isotopes' "Dancing Homer," Coney will not only entertain fans at Traffic Cones home games, but also travel with the team in order to pester opposing players, coaches and fans," Stanley said. "...And by pester, I mean kick ass...look at the guy, he's jacked!" Stanley added. Cones management hopes that Coney, coupled with game day promotions will send attendance figures soaring. A schedule of all of this season's promotional days will be released later this month. Stanley later commented, "We all know our team isn't going to be good enough to bring in the fans by itself, so we had to add something to encourage attendance. By the way, by encourage attendance, I mean Coney will physically force people to attend games, if the need should arise, so if you know what's good for you, you'll come voluntarily. I'm serious, don't mess with him."
