2/26/03 NEW HAVEN - The recent loss of KFS football team New Haven Ghetto Thugs along with the recent move of the AA New Haven Ravens to Manchester, NH has left the city without a sports team. ...Until today, when it was announced that the Surry Bridge Jumpers would move to New Haven and become the New Haven Traffic Cones. Team owner Jeff Stanley said the team name is in honor of the I-91 - I-95 construction project the city began two years ago and doesn’t expect to finish until 2012. "Yeah that’s right 2012," Stanley was heard to comment, "They could build a Home Depot in Keene faster than that." The Traffic Cones will play their home games at the historic (run-down and crappy) Yale Field, which has hosted such players as Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, George Bush and Steve Balboni. Stanley also announced the launch of the Cones' new website, which can be found at: http://www.geocities.com/ffej979/kfs The Cones have the second choice in the KFS draft, which will be held March 25th and hope to draft someone that "doesn’t suck." We can only cross our fingers.
