*** Hyesung recovers from the shock of seeing Hyolee showing up at his door in the middle of the night. He picks her up and carries her to his bed. He stops the bleeding and gently tucks her in. He sits by her side and watches her sleep. Suddenly, something strucks his mind. Why did Hyolee come to him instead of Kangta? Did Kangta do this to her? He knows Kangta would never hit a girl, but if Hyolee needs help, shouldn't she go to Kangta? He's her bf, isn't she?
She starts crying. Hyesung is very
surprise, since his parents had never raised their hands at him, and he
has been sheltered from all kinds of violence all his life. He can only
hold her and comfort her. Hyolee:
Please help me, Hyesung. You are the only person that can help me now. I
have nowhere to go, no one to turn to.
Hyesung hugs her and tell her that he
would take care of her, but he thinks that it is weird how Hyolee turns to
him for help and not Kangta. He doesn't mind this though, so he keeps
quiet about what he is thinking. Hyesung:
Stay with me Hyolee. I won't let anyone hurt you again. Hyolee:
Thank you, Hyesung. I love you so much. Hyesung:
I love you too, Hyolee. I have always loved you.
Hyesung is delirious with joy, the girl
he loves finally gave him her heart. He hugs her tightly. Hyolee smiles,
happy to be able to stay with Hyesung. They get up and dressed to go out
for breakfast. While they are walking around, Kangta phones Hyolee, asking
her what time he should pick her up for the prom. She tells him she will
go to the prom with her friend so he doesn't need to pick her up. Kangta
feels that something isn't right, but agrees to meet her there. Kangta starts to think back to the day when he finds out Eugene was his best friend from elementary school. He was so surprise, so happy. He thinks of how Eugene often looks at him with her big eyes, that seems to holds back a quiet sadness that kangta cannot describe.
Hyolee:
Kangta, I need to tell you something. Kangta:
It's ok, I understand. Hyolee: No, you don't. I mean, Hyesung and I are together now. I am sorry, but I am happy with him. He can give me what you can't, and will never be able to give me. Love and these. She touches her diamond necklace and bracelets. Kangta:
Is that what you need? Love and money? It seems like you are after the
money more. Hyolee
feels really shocking to hear Kangta saying that and so she pushes Kangta
away. Hyolee:
You! Nevermind. Hyesung is good to me. He cherishes me, unlike you! Kangta:
That may be true. In any case, I wish you two the best of luck.
Kangta turns around and rushes out of
the hotel. In the moment Hyolee had
told him she needed to tell him something, he had remembered what it
was that he had to do. Now, he
rushes out to do just that... searching for Eugene. The sky is gradually
darkening, as the clouds gather up. Rain begins to fall softly as Kangta
runs into the school, where he thinks Eugene might be. He does not see her there, and move on to Eugene's tutoring
classroom, then to the mall, and then to Eugene's house.
He goes to all the places where he knows she normally goes to,
racing from one place to another, under the soft blue rain. Yet, he cannot find Eugene. ***
Back at the hotel, Hyesung stands
quietly by the side as he watches Hyolee dance with one guy after another.
He sees her laughing and talking away happily with them. Hyesung
thinks: So this is Hyolee, the girl of my life. What a fool I must be,
watching my girl going from one pair of arms into another. Can I seriously
love a girl like that? And does she really loves me like she claims? I
must be crazy to have fight with my best friend for a girl like her. Hyolee:
Hey Hyesung, my friends want to go out for some drinks, you wanna come? Hyesung:
No, it's ok. Hyolee:
Why not? You are just like Kangta, no fun! Hyesung:
I know, so why don't you go? Go and have fun with them. Don't come back to
me anymore. I would bore you to death, just like you thought Kangta wasn't
enough fun for you. Hyolee:
What do you mean? You are abandoning me now? Fine, if that's what you
want. Come on guys, let's go. Hyesung here doesn't know the meaning of
having fun. She leaves with the guys, laughing happily with them. Hyesung
says softly to himself: You've changed Hyolee, or have you been always
like this? Were you just pretending? How could you? I understand now. I
can live without you, I can go on to a better life without you. Good-bye
Hyolee. ***
As Kangta walks dejectedly away from
Eugene's empty house, he finally thinks of a place where Eugene might be
at. He runs eagerly towards the park located beside their school, the
place where he had become reunited with his best friend from elementary
school, Eugene. It is the place
where he and Eugene had walked through everyday as they were returning
home from school. He finally reaches the park, but it seems that fate is
playing a joke on him, for Eugene is no where to be seen.
Kangta drops down onto a bench in the
park, losing every hope he had in him. Round, blue tears, as big as the
rain that continues to fall softly, drop from Kangta's eyes as he looks
down at the ground. He cannot stop the tears that is falling incessantly.
His hearts feel as though it is being crushed by a heavy stone. "Eugene
.. where are you? I want to see you so much .. please .. Eugene ...please
come "
Kangta raises his head finally, ready
to return home. As he looks up, he sees the silhouette of a young girl in
a white cotton dress. He looks at her shadowy outline that is so forlorn
looking, so alone, so sad. Kangta
whispers: Eugene...
The wind carries his voice over, and
the figure slowly turns around. Her long black hair is flying all about
her as the wind becomes stronger and the park gradually darkens. She lifts
her eyes slowly. Kangta looks deeply into her luminous dark eyes. She
looks back, scared to see what is in his eyes. She is surprised, she sees
a tenderness she has always been hoping to see before. Her sad eyes lit up
with hope, but grows dark again as she remembers that his heart already
belongs to another. Kangta sees the change in her eyes. He cannot bear to
see such sadness in her eyes. She looks so innocent, so fragile in her
soft white dress, standing in a pool of orange-red hue, with the setting
sun behind her.
He rushes toward her and wraps his
strong arms around her. Eugene finally realizes who his heart belongs to,
and tears fall out of her eyes silently as she hugs him back fiercely,
afraid that he would go away from her again. They do not find the need to
speak the words in their hearts, they understand it perfectly already.
They both know it, know that they were meant to be. They stand there,
under the majestic Oak tree that had witness their history, holding onto
each other, embracing each other's warmth and joy. Kangta looks at Eugene,
slowly brushing her hair back, he leans forward, his lips softly touching
Eugene's. She closes her eyes and let Kangta's lip stay on hers. It seems
that with their first kiss, Eugene's wounded soul is finally being healed,
and her heart is made whole again. Kangta
whispers in her ears: We will be together ... forever ... Eugene
nods and hugs him harder, feeling secure and "haeng bok" in his
embrace. Eugene:
(Thinking) Fate has given me the best. Life ... is truly a beautiful gift. *** Kangta, Eugene, and Hyesung are standing at the international airport, exchanging their final good-byes when the call for boarding the flight to Japan is heard. It has been four years since Kangta and Eugene finally got together. They have decided to be married in the summer after their graduation from university. It isn't exactly the perfect wedding, since they will be in a place where no one knows them and they do not have the permission of Eugene's parents to be married. They thought that it was an unbalanced marriage since Kangta is an orphan; therefore, he is most unsuitable to marry their daughter, brought up in a respectable family. This, however, does not prevent the young couple from marrying, for it is true love that they have for each other, and they are determined to be together, forever. Hyesung has finally figured out all the confusion in his mind and made up with Kangta, who was more than happy to have his friend back. Hyesung moved back in with Kangta for the four years they went to university and their friendship continued to grow. Hyolee, on the other hand, is living with her latest boyfriend, a member of the local "kangpae", Jang Woohyuk. Alcohol and drugs are now part of Hyolee's everyday meal. Her character has deteriorated to the lowest point. Will fate be gentle to this reckless pair as they head towards each of the dangerous turns lying in their paths? Will Hyolee be saved from her own destruction? Find out in the sequel to The Blue Rain: First Love. ***
