FHS coach pleased with team's effort vs. Shaw

By Mike Pervel

MANDEVILLE - Fontainebleau's Bulldogs hooked up with Archbishop Shaw last Thursday in a scrimmage.

In the 15-minute running clock portion of the scrimmage both schools scored once each.
Fontainebleau head coach Larry Favre said he was very pleased with his team's effort.

"We played physical football with lots of intensity. Our players got after it," said Favre.

Favre said Shaw is a physical team with big play athletes.

"They kept coming at us. Our defensive unit is coming together and once they settled in they played pretty well," he said.

Defensive coordinator Mike Materne said the defensive unit made some mistakes but he was pleased with their intensity level.

"Our defense really pursued the ball well. We had eight to 10 players going to the ball at all times which is what you want," said Materne.

Fontainebleau starting quarterback Ross Goodlet strained his knee in the Shaw scrimmage and won't play in this Friday's Salmen jamboree.

Junior quarterback Logan Church will replace Goodlet in the jamboree and will be backed up by senior defensive back Ashton Autin along with with sophomore Michael Romano.

Northshore gets the Salmen jamboree underway going against Pope John Paul, followed by Fontainebleau-John Curtis.

Slidell closes out the action taking on the host Salmen squad.
