Ducre runs wild for Bulldogs
By Chris Lenois

The Fontainebleau Bulldogs have been waiting to see what a healthy Christian Ducre can bring to the team.

Now they know.

Ducre ran for 256 yards on 17 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs to a 39-0 win over host Northshore. He finished with 311 total yards.

In addition to returning punts, the senior halfback is also starting at defensive back for the first time this year, and says he has been fighting back pain.

"This is the first time in four weeks I've felt 100 percent, and the offensive line played their best game of the season tonight," said Ducre, who had four runs of more than 25 yards, including a 62-yard touchdown run in the third quarter that made it 29-0.

Fontainebleau (4-1, 2-0) took the opening kickoff and marched 71 yards on nine plays, capped by quarterback Ben Cunningham's 13-yard touchdown run. The Bulldogs followed that with a nine-play, 88-yard drive that made the score 15-0 when Ducre ran the ball in from 6 yards out for his first touchdown.

"We're a running team, and we make no bones about it," said Fontainebleau coach Larry Favre, who's team had 470 yards on the ground and controlled the clock for more than 30 minutes. "We wanted to play a complete 48-minute game this week in all aspects. Last week (against Hammond), only our defense played well for the full 48 minutes."

It was the second consecutive week that Fontainebleau has shut out an opponent, and the second straight week that Northshore (0-5, 0-2) has failed to score. The young Panthers let some opportunities get away, including having sophomore quarterback Adam Fayard's second quarter pass intercepted in the end zone by Ashton Autin, one of three interceptions by the Bulldogs' defense.

That turnover set up Cunningham's second touchdown run. On third-and-two, he squeezed between the center and left guard and outran the defense for a 78-yard touchdown. Cunningham finished with 117 yards rushing on nine carries and completed five of 13 passes for 57 yards.

Ducre scored his final touchdown on a 2-yard run at the beginning of the fourth quarter to make it 36-0. He set up the touchdown himself with a dash around right end that netted 50 yards before being knocked out at the 2.

"This is the first year we've had him (Ducre) playing both ways," Fontainebleau coach Larry Favre said. "I know a lot of players are getting letters from big colleges right now, but if there's a better high school player, I'd like to see him."
