All my life I knew I had a father out there somewhere, but no one ever wanted to "talk about it" I heard whispers of some man in Paris, Texas and a name kept being said every once in a while. "Mathis", "Matthews", whenever I appeared my aunts and mother always started talking about "little pictures having big ears". My mother was unapproachable about it, and so I grew up knowing nothing about my father or his side of the family.

Eventually, as I finished high school and got married had children of my own, there came a time when I had to have a birth certificate to get my License of Radiologic Technology. The silence was broken long enough to tell me the name of my father, Verdell Mathews.

The story of my being was not told until many years later when I finally approached my mother for the truth. Yes I was born out of wedlock and it was a shameful(TO HER) story not to be repeated.

Now for the good part.

Age of Web Surfing......
My husband and I began using Computers in the early '80s and after dicovering Family Tree programs we were able to find the Social Security number of Verdell Mathews. Pete, my husband, sent for Verdell's application and it contained the names of his parents, my grandparents,
Now, I was overjoyed to know that much, but Pete did not give up and searched the web for obituarys and found that I had older siblings still living. In fact, my half brother,Matt Matthews, and his lovely wife, Jeane, lived within 200 miles of us right in Arizona. Pete also looked up my half sister in Texas and called her. She was very receptive to a visit and so I met her on June 10th 2001 at her home in Winfield, Texas.

I found more than a sister but also a niece,
and Grand-neice.

Matt, Jeane and Honey their doggie welcomed us with open arms and hearts 2 weeks later

"ME AND MY BIG BRO" Take a look at the eyes.

And finally here is a long ago picture of my Other Family.
I finally found my other half of my family. May we have many more years to enjoy our new found family.
