Lina Grown Up Guide
Lina is suited for preschool through first grade. Don't let your child read IK-2002. That would be too hard for him/her. Lina is much better for him/her. Let's tell you what you'll need to do when your child plays with this site.
1. Read the site before your child so you know what he/she is going to learn about.
2.
Make sure your child learns these vocabulary words: official, correct, greedy, and nearby. Those words are in the site. Play a vocabulary game.
3. If this is your child's first time playing with Lina, tell him/her about the characters. Try this: Lina is the main person. She is a cat that solves mysteries with you. Tuli is Lina's best friend. Tuli is a teddy bear that makes sure she if safe when solving mysteries. Squire is Lina's other friend. He is a rabbit that can fall for many ideas. Dinore is Lina's enemy. Dinore is a dog that usually causes the problems for a mystery.
4. Cut out the picutres on the right. Give them to your child when I say to.
Before Reading With Your Child:
What It Says:
What To Do:
Hi! I'm Lina. Call me LI. LI stands for Little. I'm a little kid like you. See that picture above? That's me. IK-2002 is too much for me. That's why I created my own site. Instead of hard to remember stuff, I've got stuff to learn and have fun with. Get a grown-up to help with this site. We can have lots of fun! But stop around every one in awhile to help me solve a mystery. If you can help solve it, then you are an official Lina Club member. Let's begin!
Hi! I'm Lina. Call me LI. LI stands for Little: Ask your child if he/she likes the name Lina. Can he/she think of a better name with "LI" in it?

IK-2002 is too much for me: Has your child seen IK-2002? If so, then he/she should agree. If he/she hasn't seen it, then don't let him/her. Tell him/her that Lina is right and that he/she can see IK-2002 when he/she is older.

I was on my way to Tuli's house. I decided to stop at Squire's house to see if he would come along. But he wasn't at his house. I knew that something was wrong. I went to Tuli and told her that we needed to look for Squire. She said that she could go only if she got her boots. But she couldn't remember which closet she put it in. The correct closet has the day of her birthday. Last year, her birthday was on Monday. Which door is the correct one?
I was on my way to Tuli's house: Why was Lina going to Tuli's house? Ask your child or make up a story before you read that paragraph.

Last year, her birthday was on Monday: This is a big hint to answer the question. Tell your child that Lina's birthday was on a Friday last year and was on a Saturday this year. Then tell him\her that Squire's birthday was on Wednesday last year and was on a Thursday this year. This should help your child.

Which door is the correct one: This question probably helps your child's math. The answer is Tuesday (A). Tell your child if he/she was correct when he/she guessed. When he/she gets the right answer, you can continue.
You're right! You found Tuli's boots! Tuli put on her boots and we decided to look in Kinkin Park. There, we met no-good Dinore. I decided that Dinore probably did something with Squire.
"What did you do with Sqiure?" I asked Dinore.
"What do you mean?" Dinore said. "I didn't do anything with that bunny!"
"Tell the truth!"
"That is the truth!" Dinore said. I still didn't believe him.
"I'll give you ten coins if you tell the truth!" Tuli said. "That's enough to buy a vanilla dog biscut."
"Show me the coins," Dinore said, greedly.
Tuli had a lot of coins. She put them into piles. Which pile has ten coins?
There, we met no-good Dinore: Why was Dinore so bad and greedy? Ask your child that question.

Tuli had a lot of coins: How did Tuli get so many coins? Ask your child or tell a story before reading the sentence.

Which pile has ten coins: This question will help your child's counting skills. You can have your child count up each row. Or you can have him/her multiply the row by the column. The answer is C.
You're right! You found the right pile. Tuli gave the coins to Dinore.
"Okay," Dinore said. "
I rang Squire's doorbell and when he answered the door, I put him into a bag. He is still in the bag, which is in the nearby cave. To make it harder to find him, I put four bags in the cave. Ha! Ha! Ha! Now to buy a biscut." He walked away. We went to the cave and found the bags. How will we know which bag is the right one? You figure it out. Which bag is Squire in?
I rang Squire's doorbell and when he answered the door, I put him into a bag: How did Dinore put Squire into the bag? Tell a story to your child about it after your read that sentence.

We went to the cave and found the bags: Ask your child to give a name to the cave. Kinkin Cave would be a good name because the park is called Kinkin.

Which bag is Squire in: This question will help your child's computer skills. Kiss your child and tell him/her that he/she now has x-ray vision. He/she can see through the bags by putting the mouse over the bags. Bag C is the bag with Squire. Your child will know if you give him/her the picture of the rabbit.
You're right! You found Squire! You are an official Lina Club member. Congragulations!
