- How do these point programs work?
- When you visit sites and try out programs that these websites list, they generate revenue.
- But in order for them to generate revenue, they need people to click and try out different offers. That's why they assign a certain number of points to visit sites and try out offers, which can be redeemed for prizes, gift certificates, and cash.

- How do these online suvey sites work?
- First, you fill out some information about yourself.
- If one of the website's clients wants to do research and their request for certain people (based on criteria such as age, residence, preferences, etc) matches the information you provided, you'll be asked to fill out a survey.
- Upon completion of the survey or evaluation, you will be compensated in the form of cash or Amazon.com gift certificates!
- Why to we get paid?
- In order to produce quality products, companies want consumer input but they may not want to test it out on just anyone. They want people who are willing to give them thoughtful feedback and help them improve their product and services.
Precautions, Tips, and Suggestions:
especially if you plan to sign up for programs not listed on this page
- Privacy
- Be careful with the information you provide when signing up. Some sites may distribute your email to their "partner" sites.
- My suggestion: create a free email account (e.g. Yahoo, Hotmail). Use that account as your email address when signing up for these programs.
If you get spammed abandon or close the account and set a new up a new one. Be sure to update your email address for each program that you're a member of, except for the one that spammed you.
- "Free" gift certificates for signing up
- If you happen to encounter sites that offer you free gift certificates
to Walmart/Kmart/Amazon.com, etc, be very cautious. They may be associated with "MemberWorks." They apparently have a track record of misleading people into thinking they're getting something out of nothing. I would avoid sites that are affiliated with "Simple Escapes," "Connections," "MWI Essentials" as they are part of MemberWorks.
- Check out this Consumer Affairs article or go directly to ConsumerAffairs.com.
- Note: These sites are different from the ones that I have listed here. For the ones here, you have to EARN your gift certificates.
- Research company's history and track record
- If you're still in doubt about a site's legitimacy, do a Google Search to see if you can come up with any relevant hits. Typing the company name and keywords such as "complaints," or "fraud," etc may produce some relevant hits. Of course, not finding relevant hits does not gurantee a company's legitimacy.
