Band Bio
Stefan and Justin have known eachother since they were kids. Justin had been playing drums for nine years and Stefan had no idea. Justin's grandparents live right next to Stefan and one day Justin brought his drums from his house to his grandparent's house. In February of 1997 Stefan was in his house and heard a noise that sounded like a car trying to start so he went outside. He found out it was Justin in his grandparent's garage practicing his drum rolls.

Ivan was interested in jamming with Stefan and Justin since he lived very close in the San Jose Area. They soon got together and since Ivan was a huge Metallica fan they continued to play more covers. . It wasn't until the summer of 1999 when Stefan met bassist and vocalist Marcus through his new friend Krystal who was a very good friend of Marcus'. He lived very close to Stefan, Justin, and Ivan as well.
Marcus had been in two bands before meeting Stefan, Justin, and Ivan. He had been into many good death and black metal bands such as Entombed, Dimmu Borgir, Carnivore, Cryptopsy, At The Gates, and many others. He began introducing them to Stefan, Justin, and Ivan and they realy liked it. After jamming together for about a month or two and covering songs by Entombed, Fear Factory, and At The Gates, they started work on thier first song. Marcus and Stefan began a frame to the song by coming up with some good guitar riffs on his seven string. The song was complete after a week and lyrics were written for this song called "Fetalphilia". The song is still one of thier favorites even though it was three of four members first attempts at writing a complete song.
A total of eight months went by until the group of four good friends with thier talent arose as the band "Fetus By The Pound" and went into to studio during December of 1999 to record thier first seven songs. Being in the studio was a fun experience for them and after hearing themselves on CD showed them how good they can sound and encouraged them to continue writing music. Since they all liked several kinds of metal, they liked the idea of writing all types from fast paced speed metal to slow grindcore metal. Writing black metal with harmonies and melody also joined in as they practiced more. They also had been writing thier songs in several downtunings to make some songs sound better and help out thier diverse sound. Marcus and the band decided that he could just be the vocalist if they could find another person to take over as bassist. Two people were auditioned and appreciated for thier talent but could not stay with the band due to personal choices and school. After privately releasing the demo CD to some friends, someone heard about thier need for a bassist and wanted to audition since they lived very close to the band.
Jay had been playing for three years and met Fetus By The Pound in February of 2000. Even though he didn't have an amplifier powerful enough for practice or shows, he was allowed to use Marcus' amp and basses. Since the band was scheduled to play at a party in a month, Jay had a few band practices to learn eight songs and be prepared to perform as his final test of being accepted in the band. The party during March of 2000 went well and Jay performed well. The Band accepted him and are all getting along great and writing some more good music to throw out into the local scene. In April they played their first show at the Cactus club in San Jose with some shitty punk band, and Industrial band, and the only other enjoyable band, the thrash band In Extremus. Pulling a very sizable crowd to their set for a thursday night, they were asked back. Their call back gig was of immaculate proportions ,being asked to open for the Cannibal Corpse/Nile/Krisiun show in town(I just shit my pants-Ivan). The show was a huge help for The Fetus, helping them gain a ton of new fans(as well as a couple of enemies). When all was going well and local success was a nice taste in their mouths, the shit started hitting the fan. Justin was showing signs of disinterest. Being plagued by the religious thoughts of his family and the gayness of "wanting to be famous", he decided to leave and start a pop punk band.

The search for a new drummer began, and after 6 months of frustration filled crap, our bro Vafa(ex-Careworn) told us about a drummer who was heavily into black metal. Harry was his name(Limey for short, hehe). He was into bands like Mayhem,Burzum,Darkthrone, etc.He provided a new perspective on the music.A few shows passed, and then everyone started moving.

Ivan moved to the shit hole that is Tur(d)lock,Marcus to Sacramento,Harry lived in Palo Alto,Stefan in San Jose.Every one was as spread out as your moms legs. Seeing how hard it was to practice and get together this way, they decided to call it quits on October 13th at the Silicon Valley Metalfest.
