ACCOMMODATION Board
You will need to take care of your own accommodation, unless otherwise advised. Some employers might provide you with accommodation against a decent fee (or even free of charge in some cases).

 |
| However you should bear in mind that it is not a guaranteed option so you should be prepared to find and finance your own housing.
During the pre-departure orientation you will be provided with information on how to do that. |

Program Length
 |
The program lasts for 4 months, plus one month grace period, during which you can travel
within the USA and/or prepare for and depart from the United States. Program participants who travel
beyond the boundaries of the United |
States during the grace period may not be permitted by the BCIS (Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services) officers to re-enter as they are no longer in valid J-1 status during this time.
Participants who have an interest in visiting either Canada or Mexico at the end of their stay should
be prepared to return directly home from either country. Alternatively, according to the BCIS, they
may return to their US exit port in transit, as TROV (transit without visa), for the purpose of return
travel to their home country. More information on this procedure may be obtained from BCIS.

VISA Documentation
 |
|
You will be provided with documentation necessary for applying for a J-1 exchange visitor visa.
Nevertheless you should be aware that we cannot guarantee that you will receive a J-1 visa from
the U.S. Consulate.
|
We have no influence over decisions made by the U.S. Consular Officers.
These visas are issued with the understanding that you will return to your home country after the completion of the program.
The burden is on the participant to prove to the U.S. Consul clear intention to return home.
You will need to be able to show proof of a minimum of $1,000 to cover your initial expenses in the U.S. when applying for
the J-1 visa and upon entry to the USA.
