- The Queen of Sidney was the first ferry built for BC Ferries. Her sister, Queen of Tsawwassen was launched a month an a half later.
- The model used for the design of the Queen of Sidney and the Queen of Tsawwassen was the Coho which was built around the same time by Black Ball Ferries for the Victoria - Port Angeles run. She still operates on the same route to this day.
- The first route that the Queen of Sidney operated on was between Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen. She also operated among the Southern Gulf Islands when larger ferries were built. Her last route of service was between Powell River and Comox from 1986 to 2000.
- The first time the BC Flag was flown (or seen in BC) was on the Queen of Sidney in the middle of her first run between Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen on June 14, 1960 (Griffin, Kevin. "City Limits," Vancouver Sun. December 13, 2000. B2.)
