The Forgotten Wizard

A/N: Sorry this hasn't been updated for so long!  Other stuffs get in the way with other stuffs and...yeah...so, here ya go!

I must have slept some on the way to Ankh-Morpork with Nanny Ogg, because I somehow woke up in the University stable with the horses' rank odor annoying me to no end.  The fact that the horse had kicked me off its back and thrown me into the hay didn't help either.
  "Seria?  Hello?  Wake up!"
I strained my eyes open and found Nanny pulling me up out of the hay.  "I'm sorry I fell asleep, ma'am," I started.  "It's just been such a long ride."
Nanny Ogg turned to me and flashed a less-than-appealing grin for a witch's status.  "It's no prblem, dearie.  I just wish that damn horse of hers ran faster."  I could only assume she meant Granny in her flustered rambling.
We left the stable and headed straight for the Archchancellor, confused looks and whispers of students and staff following us.  7 minutes and 10 flights of steps later, Nanny knocked on the Archchancellor's door.  There was no answer, but even an army of angery dwarves wouldn't scare Nanny off, so she went in just the same.
The room was definately what I would have expected.  I hoped to see great tapestries of famous wizards and gold pieces on the furniture and the works.  What I saw was a single wooden desk with a chair, a rickety bed, a liquor cabinet, and a few random objects that appeared to be the product of a phychiatrist-turned-pottery-maker.
"That bastard's supposed to be here," Nanny muttered next to me.  She turned to me and told me she would be taking a look around the room ("The poor kid must be frightened of a witch's presense," she joked to herself) and told me to leave the room until she called for me to come back in.
I obeyed and left the Archchancellor's quarters, tense as ever.  I ekpt thinking about what might happen in there between Nanny and the head wizard.  Would I get accepted to Unseen University, or would I be dropped like a bad potato and told to go back home where I belonged and learn to sew?  If I did get in, what would all my classmates think of me?  Would they avoid me, or just prank me until I left of my own accord?  I tightened my grip on Sticky and bit my lip, wincing as I drew blood.  If there was one thing I had learned back home, it was this:  When in doubt, run away.  So I did, dodging any wizards in the hall.  If I was going to start frequenting the school, I would make a good impression by not bumping into its residents.  Suffice to say, I ran as fast as my legs would carry me.
I tried to hold my focus on not running into anything, but my mind wandered.  I couldn't believe I was actually here, in Unseen University, one of the most well-known schools in all the Disc.  I couldn't believe I was to meet the Archchancellor, the Headmaster of it all.  I couldn't believe I was running away from him.

CRASH!

My streak of not knocking into things was over, and, thanks to the lack of carpeting in the school, I was thrown on to the hard ground and knocked unconscious.
                                                               *^_^*
"What are we going to do about this?"
"How should I know?  How should I know she was even supposed to be here?  And with a staff!"
"Calm yourself!  It's not your fault.  Not this time, anyway."
  "At least
I wasn't the one being chased by the Librarian three weeks ago!  Anyhow, we need to concentrate on waking whoever this is up."
"How do we know she's not dead?"
"I think I can take a proper pulse, Victor."
That's when I woke up, oblivious to what exactly the two wizards next to me were fighting about.  Or were they even wizards?  What if I was dumped onto the streets and was being quarreled over by beggars?!  I was surprised that thought had even crossed my mind.
  "Erm, Ponder?"
  "What?"
  "She's awake."
That's when I sat up.  The suspense and agony of it all was getting to me, and I had to see who was talking.  I looked around, and found that I was on a bed in what I guessed was a student dormitory.
That was nice of them, I mused.
"Hey...  Are you OK?  Or at least sane?"
I turned to the voice and saw who exactly my saviors were.  They both appeared to be students.  One, the one who had just spoken to me, was slightly taller than me and looked to be three years older than me in years.  He had black, unruly hair, and medium-sized circular glasses that didn't seem to fit at all.  The other, slightly behind him, seemed to be the more exhuberant of the two.  He was a half a head taller than the first boy and had shoulder length brown hair that just screamed "miscreant," but I didn't bother to ask.  I was too asleep to ask.
"Yes, I'm fine, but...  Who are you?  Where are we?"
"Don't bother," the taller of the two replied.  "Go back to sleep.  We'll try to find someone to help you.  Go to sleep..."
And by that time, I was.
