| San Antonio Mission Road The Mission Road connected the missions of San Antonio with each other. It also helped link all the Spanish settlements in Texas with a route called the Camino Real The Alamo is currently where downtown San Antonio is. |

| Mission Concepcion is the best preserved of the missions, named in honor of Lady of the Immaculate Concepcion and Juan de Acuna, the marques de Casafuerte when it was transferred to the San antonio river. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Originally found in 1716, it was one fo the six developed by Franiscans to serve as buffer against the threat of French incursion. It was transferred to its present site in 1731. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Mission San Jose, largest of the missions in the area, was founded in 1720 and named for Saint Joseph and the Marques de San MIguel de Aguayo, the province governor of Coahuila and Texas. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| It was built on the banks of the San Antonio river several miles to the south of earlier mission of San Antonio de Valero (Alamo) The mission continues to be an active parish. Visitors are welcome to attend masses. |

| Mission San Juan, was originally founded in 1716 in Easten Texas, and was transferred to its present location in 1731. The stone church, afriary and a granary were completed in 1756. In the mid 1700s, San Juan was a regional supplier of agricultural produce due to its rick farm and pasturelands. San Juan was a self sustaining community. |

| They produce iron tools, cloth and prepared hides. Melons, pumpkins, grapes and pepers were grown in the orchards,Maize, beans, squash, sweet potatoes and sugar canes were their main crops. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Mission San Francisco de la Espada, founded in 1690, was the first mission in Texas. It was also the final mission of the three transferred to the San Antonio River in 1731.
