R, Abbott’s jewelry store this morning by Mrs Chas Conklin, started for home in a trot drawing a buggy, in which was seated a little girl about 4 years of age (Maud). The animal trotted along quite briskly until he reached Lian & Scrugg’s corner, when he was caught and held by a colored barber named Logan. The little child fell out but was not badly hurt”

“A Claim Contested. A bitter controversy has been in progress in county court this week. The parties to it are Robert Conklin and A.W. and Huldah Conklin, administrators of the estate of Amos Conklin, deceased. Robert Conklin claims that there is due him from the estate about $1200. He alleges that Amos Conklin gave him a note of the amount of $1,000 drawing interest at the rate of 7 per cent. This note was among other valuables in a valise which was stolen from him while he was traveling on a railway and was never recovered. The administrators deny that such a note was ever given by the deceased. The testimony was all taken by a stenographer. Judge Oloyd, before whom the matter was tried, has reserved his decision.”
