SAO PAULO III
The original city of So Paulo was founded in 1554 on a hilltop between two rivers, the Tamanduatei and the Anhangaba. The original site is now occupied by a partial reproduction of the old mission called the Ptio do Colgio.
Patio do Colegio
One of the few remaining relics of old So Paulo, the Ptio de Colgio complex sits a hop and a skip north from Praa da S on Rua Boa Vista, on the exact site where the original Jesuit mission was founded in 1554. Though built in 1896, the simple Anchieta Chapel is an accurate reproduction of the original. Next door to the chapel, the Museu Padre Anchieta apparently holds a quite substantial collection of ancient maps and important documents, but all they have on display are a very few baroque saints and a reliquary or two.
Patio do Colegio
Another remaining relic of old So Paulo, is the Estacao Julio Prestes, built between 1926 and 1938. It is a train station just like the european ones - beautiful - and nowadays there is inside this station a modern place for concerts, called Sala Sao Paulo.
