| We visited Salvador, capital of Bahia State, in early December/2002. In Salvador, the sun shines almost year-round, but beneath the surface beauty of beaches and the island-studded Baa de Todos os Santos (Bay of All Saints), there's a deep and powerful culture - one that bubbles up in the area's rich cuisine and in the infectious and ever-changing rhythms of Bahian music. People say that once you visit Salvador, you will never forget it and get completely "in love" with the city. That's true! Salvador was an unforgetable trip for us. |

| The classic viewpoint and one of the most visited post cards in Salvador is from the Farol de Barra, the lighthouse at the point where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Bay of All Saints. The view here, of course, is not of the city but of the sunset. People start gathering in the park around the lighthouse about a half-hour beforehand to appreciate the spetacle. | |||||||||||||||||||

| Another classic post card in Salvador is the "Lagoa do Abaete" (Abaete Lagoon), a huge lagoon surrounded by coconut palm trees and white sand dunes. Very beautiful place. | |||||||||||||||||||
