| After Rome, we visited Venice. Venezia is UNIQUE!!! "La Serenissima", as italians call it, is a phenomenon. The secret to seeing and discovering the romance and beauty of Venezia is to walk: each small and narrow street, each canal (the city has some 150 canals and more than 400 bridges) is worth seeing. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| You can only see "gondolas" in Venice. Watch them slip in front of the Palace Ducal, drinking a bottle of Italian sparkling wine was GREAT! Sit in front of the Grand Canal, observe the singular architecture of that little town, listen to the sound the "gondolas" make while they cross the water, listen to the gondoleiros singing the Sole Mio, etc. All those simple things are meaningful in Venezia. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| The "Bridge of Sighs" (Ponte dei Sospiri), just beside Piazza San Marco, is another famous point in Venezia. Although its name and beauty evoke romantic images, the bridge was the thoroughfare for prisoners being led to the dungeons. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
