FRANCE III
Chateau de Versailles - France - March/1997
Versailles, just a few minutes by train from downtown Paris (23 km), is another place worth visiting in France. Le "Chateau de Versailles", built in the mid-17th century during the reign of Luis XIV and where the Treaty of Versailles was signed, is the city's most famous tourist attraction. The palace is huge and, as you get into it, you just "breath" history.
The most impressive places inside the Chateau are the "Galerie des Glaces"("Hall of Mirrors") and the "Appartement de la Reine" ("Queen's suite"). The gardens that surround the Chateau are also impressive.
