BUENOS AIRES
Buenos Aires, capital of Argentine, was our destiny for the reveillon/2003.

The elegance of Europe and the spirit of South America live side by side in Buenos Aires. Take a walk through neighborhoods like Recoleta and Belgrano, for example, and you'll be convinced you're still in the "Old World".

It is a wonderful city to explore and fairly easy to navigate. The most impressive historical sites surround " Plaza de Mayo", part of the "microcenter" of the city, one of the most visited places in downtown Buenos Aires.

The "Casa de Gobierno" (Government House), dubbed the Casa Rosada (The Pink Housse) by President Domingo Fausto Sarmiento in 1873 for its pink color, houses the executive branch of the government. The building was originally constructed in the late 19th century over the foundations of an earlier customhouse and fortress. The balcony facing Plaza de Mayo has served as a presidential podium for addressing crowds. Evita rallied the descamisados (shirtless working class), the Pope blessed the crowd during a visit in 1998, and Madonna sang her filmed rendition of "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" from this lofty stage.

It is definitely the most famous "post card" of Buenos Aires.
