What is the gospel about?

I joined a short mission training recently, and I realised today how Christians and non                   Christians both have some sort of misunderstanding in the gospel.

         -        Christians do not know how to preach the gospel clearly resulting in misunderstanding.

         -        Christians (some) think they haven’t learnt enough of the bible so they can’t believe in                          Jesus yet.

        -          Non Christians think all religions are to enable people to be good (kind, love etc)

        -          Non Christians see that some Christians are bad, they still smoke and they argue…….. so                   why do I have to believe in Jesus?

These questions would become clearer and I’ll answer them at the end of the post.

Only Christianity can solve the two biggest mysteries of the world:

        -          What do we do with our sins? Can we get rid of sins ourselves by doing good as said in                     other religions?

        -          Where do we go when we die?

                           The gospel and sins:

At first God created the universe and everything in it. At first, God and men were                                             TOGETHER. men SINNED, we are SEPARTED from Him.

Since God is righteous, he can’t stand sins, so God and men can’t be together anymore.

Sins include many, like anger, hatred, jealousy, arrogance.

Denying our heavenly Father who made us, is also a sin.  Just like it’s a sin when children                                    refuse to acknowledge their parents these days.

Because God wanted us to come back to Him and He loved us, He decided He’ll do this,

-          If one without sins were willing to take the sins of the whole world as His own, then God would forgive everyone else.

-          But none was righteous.

-          Therefore God came down to earth as man.

                         This is JESUS CHRIST.

Jesus Christ was God, yet he was also human. He had a body, he experienced all sweetness       and bitterness a human experienced in a lifetime.

            -          He was righteous, He had no sins.

            Blood is used for purification.

Jesus’s blood as He died on the cross purified us. He alone had taken our sins to be His.

            So now, we have:

             God – Jesus – men

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Roman 5:8

For those who ADMIT that they’ve sinned, BELIEVE Jesus has died and was raised from the dead, ACCEPT Him as our saviour from sins, and REPENT.

THEN WE BECOME CHRISTIANS AND IS GIVEN A NEW LIFE! (SPIRITUAL)

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10

We are redeemed and we can communicate and reach God through Jesus by accepting this precious gift.

“Just as man is destined to die once and after that to face judgement.” Hebrew 9:27

Death is only a transition stage. When the world ends, there will be a judgement.

And who can stand before God without sins? But for those who’ve accepted Jesus, God will                              have mercy and overlook them.

Jesus is a gift from God to the world.

The judgement decides where each of us goes – to heaven (eternal life) or hell (eternal fire).

“For the wages if sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Roman                        6:23

                         Back to the questions,

If you admit, believe, accept and repent (check middle of post) then you will be saved. You                        don’t need to read and know the whole bible in order to be saved (Saved from sins and eternal death). For the bible is there to help us live a godly life, to walk our life with God which is also very important.

And no, Christians aren’t saints. Christians, like everyone else also have sins, that’s why we                       aren’t “perfect” as some people think, and we’ve to pray to God and ask for forgiveness and try our best to do what God wants, through reading the bible.
