  The Habitat ~

  The Information ~

At the entrance to the fences habitat is somewhat predictably a sign, one that serves as information display to any visitors. Engraved upon it is this;

Basic Information
Yotes are small (1' tall) coyote-like canines that run rampant all across the Nameless Island, where they inhabit everywhere from fields to forests to tundras, and sometimes are even domesticated for companionship by humans. Yotes come in all colors, including strange colors such as purple or blue or orange, and many have complex patterns. Yotes are almost designed to look cute, and have large eyes, scruffy fur, small nose, large paws, and a fluffy tail. Yotes, like dogs, are mentally pups even when they become adults, because they lack the hormone that tells them to act adult-like in behavior. So, they act just like dogs/puppies. Yotes can only speak animalian, and lack the vocal cords to pronounce English, however, they can learn and understand as many as 200 words (as many as the average 2-year-old human).

History
Yotes originated from the Great Plains as small coyotes, mainly a small population of unusually small, somewhat malformed group that were soon taken and domesticated by humans. They were bred to be small, cute, and colorful, and the once genetic "mutation" soon became attractive and popular. However, after the First War, many Yotes were freed or escaped into the wild, where they bred like rabbits. They now have adapted wonderfully, inhabiting every environment and location on the Nameless Island. Though some are still part of the human towns where they originated, many have returned to their wild roots.

Physical Description
Yotes average about 1' tall at the forehead, and males can be an inch or so larger, but not by much. Yotes are about 2' 5" feet long from shoulders to tail tip, their tail being most of their overall length. The Yote tail is large and fluffy, and arches over their back like a husky. Yotes weigh about 7-10 lbs., and some of the larger ones may weigh around 12. Yotes are also very good runners, as their ancestors, coyotes, are too, and can reach speeds of 20 mph when running. Yote jaws are petite and their muzzle is short, and Yotes were also bred to have little bite power for safety, so they catch their prey (normally birds, fish, and rodents) by grabbing them with their long, cat-like claws and then giving them a quick bite on the spine or neck.
