My name is Ursula
Sharman. I was born in Exning near Newmarket in Suffolk (international
horse-racing town) on 26th July 1921.
I worked as a hairdresser, but during the war worked in "Small foundry", an engineering place where I made bomb shells and gun parts.
I got married after the war and went to live in Brixton, London, and then later moved to Camberwell where my first child was born. We lived there for about seven years. Then we moved to Wickambrook (Suffolk) for four years where I had my second child.
I moved back to Exning in 1953. My daughters eventually married and I now have three grand-daughters, a great-grandson, and two great-granddaughers.
Nan departed this life after a short, painless, spell in hospital on 22nd April 2005.
