I arrived at Fort Wayne airport wondering what the heck Chuck and I had let ourselves in for! I knew I'd have to wait for him as I arrived just before he finished work, so I decided to hang around the airport and see what I could see.
Chuck had assured me he knew what I look like and would spot me no problems, so I took a relaxed attitude to us finding each other. When I did panic a bit, I thought I'd call someone, as then he'd hopefully recognise my voice and approach me. Well I ended up helping some lady who was having trouble with the phone, and then I was approached....
"Excuse me"
"Are you looking for someone?"
"Yes"
"Well I'm looking for someone too. Will I do?!"
With that I left the airport with this strange bloke, who amazingly enough turned out to be Chuck "I'll recognise you!" I looked too young indeed!
| Our first port of call was his old house where we were to pick up Kari,
his and Tami's daughter. I briefly spoke to Tami as she continued packing
her stuff for the big move which was to take place while I was with Chuck.
We were yet to arrange a day together because of the move.
When we got back to the flat, Kari asked if she could paint my nails. It was nothing personal when I wouldn't let her paint my fingernails and instead let her paint my toe-nails which did need doing. She started off well, but then she started to rush and go over the edges! :o/ Her good deed for the day prompted me to finally go and get some nail varnish remover! (Something I should have done long ago!) |

I was introduced to Spike, Chuck's pet iguana that very night, and I fell in love with him straight away! He was so damn cute! [Unfortunately, since the trip, Spike has had an accident :~( ] |
| Friday morning I woke up bright and early for my big day ahead! Bill had said he'd pick me up about 7am for the four hour journey which lay ahead of us to Jim and Therese's (Panky and Luvy's). At 9.30am, after much worry and time on the phone, he finally arrived! :)) | ![]() |

We eventually arrived at our destination just about unscathed from the ride (- Bill's a good driver really!) As I hadn't seen a picture of either Jim or Therese, I hadn't a clue what to expect of them, but I knew they were jolly nice people, so that didn't matter anyway! :) | ![]() |
| We just sat and chatted (and IRC'd, and spoke on the phone!) about this n that. (What DID we talk about?!?) Might not sound like we did much, but I had a good time (-not sure about the others!), and worked up an appetite for KFC. As I love the stuff so much, hadn't eaten all day, and we didn't want to confuse the staff by asking for six pieces (-Bill only wanted two, but the order would mean a two piece box and a four piece box), we asked for an eight piece box. (I was kinda hoping Bill would change his mind about only having two pieces!!) Despite forcing six pieces down me the four hour journey back (-yes I did have a break from eating inbetween!) and feeling slightly off-colour as a result of this, I haven't been put off my KFC!!! :)) | ![]() |

Saturday I discovered Chuck was giving blood, so as I hadn't been able
to give blood for a while for one reason or another, I decided to give it
a go too! Had I known the American Red Cross made you fill out a form with
all these intellectually demanding questions on first (-Chuck helped me with
the difficult ones and even then I got them wrong!), I may have changed
my mind. I'd have definitely changed my mind if I knew that whereas
I had no trouble giving blood in England, I'd have trouble in the states!!!
:o/
After the vamp session, we went to the zoo. (I'd suggested it for Kari's sake, but it was really so I could feel more at home with my kind!!) Then we shopped, ate, and got ready to go out again. We went to a comedy club (half of which I didn't understand!) and bar. I had a great time dancing, but Chuck ended up somehow knackered from trying to keep up with me!! :)) |
We went to church on Sunday (-I dragged Chuck to a methodist he sometimes goes to), after which we went to a clown picnic. (Chuck's Mum, and more recently Chuck, are clowns. OK, so you knew about Chuck, but now it's official!) I think we just kind of collapsed after that!
Monday I was left to my own devices and so bought the said nail varnish remover, and another film for my camera (which turned out to be dodgy!) I then did my nails under the watchful eye of the ever intriguing Spike! In the evening when Chuck returned, we went to an Amish place called Grabel to have a look round and eat.
| Tuesday I was home alone again, but I can't recall doing anything out of the ordinary. I think I just read a book :) In the evening we went to Chad and Dawn's (-Chuck's brother and sister in-law's) for dinner : Amish chicken, and I had apple pie for dessert. If you know me well enough, you'll know what a great meal that was!!!! :)) After the meal we played 'Annoyance', which naturally I won! (Not bad for a beginner!) | ![]() |
Wednesday I spent the day with Chuck. I went on his rounds with him (-he's a lorry driver). I just soaked up the scenery (-it was raining!) and we chatted and stuff. After the journey I discovered the joys of a 'Powers' hamburger!!!! :))
Thursday was my day with Tami. As I hadn't yet bought any souvenirs, we did a bit of shopping first (when I eventually managed to get some money out of the bank!!!) Then we went back to her new place in North Manchester for a bit, after which we went for a meal someplace of which I forget the name. (Oh, and I had a scrummy chicken sandwich!) Then she took me to the airport and dumped me on my own...
You don't think she'd really dump me, do you?! Don't be silly! She stayed with me until soon after Chuck arrived (although I was worried he wouldn't make it to say goodbye then, in which case I don't know if I could have even got on the plane!) Not sure what I can add to that, but I guess all good things have to come to an end....
