My father sold our cows. I cannot remember when or why, but I suspect it was because we had no means of treating the milk for tuberculosis. This meant a two mile detour for me on the way to school to pick up our milk from Harrison's who kept more cows and could justify the expense of the equipment necessary. Fortunately by this time I had a bike. I would pick up the milk from Harrison's and then leave it near the lode bank for my father to pick up later.
