The Epic Adventure of Spregan & Sprill
Once upon a Time...
There was a friend and a Megan
Who would've guessed
They were both from Waukegan!
It wouldn't be 'til college
That their paths would cross
And if they hadn't
It'd be a definite loss!

From two different towns
They met up in fair Athens
To have quite a year
As the bestest of friends!
Blonde-haired and green-eyed
They were sisters, it appeared
Yet even in looniness
Their behavior was mirrored!

Salad-bar confessions
Bathroom boogies, lettuces faces
Sprill and Spregan
Went all kinds of places!
Male dorm-rooms and parties
Cartrips, Cancun
And if they were lucky
Sunday brunches by noon!

They hopped here and there
Leaving no stone unturned
Through experiences, memories
And lessons unlearned!
One justified the actions
of the other each time
No words can describe
This bond in a rhyme!

Yet there were the door posters
Which captured the best
The trials and triumphs
Of their numerous quests!
The Roommate Game showed
All those Tracys and Heathers
That we were true friends
And they were just pleathers!
Oh! and our room!
With the 'Blinky' and stars!
The conversations we'd share there
When we'd return from the bars!
The Brians and Chris's
And Jasons and more...
We'd discuss them each week
As our newest endeavor!

As can be expect, with guys
They'd pass soon enough
Leaving stories and chuckles
And all that good stuff
To be shared between friends
Within those four walls -
Mysterious 'hose-holes'
And strange late-nite calls!

And never forget
'
Bulldog Subs' and our crowd,
'
My Corona,' 'Brown-eyed Girl'
That we'd sing so loud!
Though our glory year is now
Several years in the past,
Our friendship is one
That will always last!

And though distance and time
Seems to move us apart
You never will leave
Your special place in my heart!
In life's twists and turns,
We may not always be there
But with each new change
Comes new things to share!

And on more of a serious note,
Let me say -
Without rhyming:
I love you my Sprill,
Roommate, Partner-in-Crime -
We may never live close to each other
But that's just a good excuse to travel
Nothing more...
My Comments: This poem captures the truly "epic-ness" of my freshman year at UGA with my best friend and roommate - who, to this day, is still my bestest friend, and with whom I have collected many an LA memory as well.
