Oasis

Love is but a whisper
You hear softly in your dreams
An oasis in the desert
A mirage - or so it seems!

We thirst for it to quench us
We hunger for its shade
Chasing each horizon
To never let it fade

Love's echo draws you forward
Further from your youth
Its sands - ever-shifting
Revealing in them truth

One moment then you realize
Looking back it is so clear
You have no choice but forward
Though never drawing near

Forever changed and searching
'Cross this harsh and barren earth
The hope for Love's oasis
Gives this journey all its worth
My Comments: Of all my poems, this is one of my most "philosophical," and probably one of my favorites.  I think it requires a few passes to really get all that it contains.  It's one of those poems that disguises itself as a sing-song-y light poems, but really is quite a bit deeper. For me, it really captures needing to simply enjoy the "journey" and not focus so much on a "destination."
