Solving Systems of Equations

There are three ways to solve systems of equations.

The first way is by graphing. When solving linear systems by GRAPHING the person must graph each of the equations and interpret the data.

The next two ways to solve the systems of equations are done algebraically. The first of these two methods is SUBSTITUTION. The second is LINEAR COMBINATION.

The Solution of a system of linear eauations in two variables is an ordered pair (x,y) that satisfies each equation.

Click on any of the three ways of solving a system of equations above to see an example of how they are done.
