Chris' Algebra 2 Shindig
Adam and I are doing this webpage to inform other students about certain algebra 2 problems Problem one:
Linear Combination
X+2y=6
5X+3y=2
To solve ths equation start by multiplying the top equation by -3 and the other by 2 and them add 2 together. The yS will cancel . Next you would solve for X
7X=-14
Do this by deviding negative 14 by 7 and that will give you X
X=-2
now plug X into either one of the equations
ex: -2+2y=6
Now solve for y
Add 2 to -2 and add 2 to 6 then devide by 2 and y would = 4
NOW you have your answer
X=-2 Y=4
Problem Two:
Substition
X+Y=2
3X+2Y=5To solve this equation start by finding which variable is the easiest to eliminate. Y is alone so it would be easiest to get alone.
Y=-X+2
now subsitute for Y in the second equation
3X-X+2=5
2X+2=5
2X=3
X=1.5
Now plug in x in the first equation
1.5+Y=2
1.5+.5=2
Y=2
Problem 3:word problem The measure of two suplementary angles is 8 more degrees than 3 times the other , find the measure of the larger of the two angles.
change it into an equation
8+3X=180
3X=172
X=57.3
