Solving Linear Equations

    Example: x/5=2x-6

* Begin by isolating the variable.

x/5*5=5(2x-6)< here the 5 is cancelled out in the first part of  the equation and

                                                        distributed to the second part.

x=10x-30 < now move the 10x to the other side of the equation by subtracting

-9x=-30 < now isolate the variable by dividing by -9

x= 3.333 < this is the final answer
