An example of a literal equation is
F=G Mm/r2.  A literal equation will ask you to solve for a specific letter, in this case they want you to solve for G.  This is how your would solve...
First you would multiply by r2.
Fr2=G Mm.

Second your would divide by Mm.  Fr2/Mm=G

The answer is G=Fr2/Mm

An Example or a linear equation is 7+2(x+1)/3=8x/5.  You are tring to solve for x.  These are the steps for doing that...
First you need to distrubed everything out.

Second you need toadd everything.

Third you would prt the 3 under the 9 and the 2x.

Fourth you would subtract 2x/3 from 8x/5.

Fifth you multiply by the 15

The last step is to divide 45 by 14

7+2x+2/3=8x/5

9+2x/3=8x/5

9/3+2x/3=8x/5

9/3=14x/15

45=14x

x=3 3/15

The three types of equations forms are Standard form, point-slope form and slope-intercept form.  Standard form looks like x+y=b, point-slope form looks like Y1-Y=m(X1-X), Slope- intercept form looks like y=mx+b.  An example to solve all three is (3,-2) m=- 4/3
For Point-slope form all you do is plug in the numbers

For slope- intercept form you distrubited the - 4/3 then you subtract the 2

For standard form you put the - 4with the x and the 3 with the y.

(Y+2)=- 4/3(X- 3)

Y=- 4/3+ 4

4x- 3y=-2
