The antibiotics were finished on Wednesday, but at least for this first go-round, they didn't make much of a difference. She lost 13 ounces, and was down to 7 lb. 15 oz. her rbc went from 23% to 20%, and the Hemobart is still positive. The only good thing to happen was that her wbc went from 3800 to 9000! It showed an increase in her monocytes, baysophils and nutraphils, which is all good, but her lymphocytes are still low, and had gone from 874 to 810. So, we are still doing the Baytril and the Doxycycline for another run, and hopefully we'll finally get this thing and she'll get better. I'll let you know if anything else happens. What an honor! I am sure Vyvyan is so proud of you for doing this, and so are we! Keep up the good work. Pet-tinic is a liquid vitamin-mineral supplement that contains Iron, copper, B-complex, vitamins and liver supplement. You can get this from your vet, or the KV Vet Supply catalog at 800-423-8211. Its good for anemic cats. You can get it at your vets. There were several posts last week or so about cats licking glass and eating litter. I never had this problem. The others said that anemic cats do it because they are lacking nutrients. I'm sure the others can tell you more about it. There is soooo much it will take a little time to sort through. I'm going to print much of it out and bring it with me when I go to the vet on Tuesday. Thanks again. That is good that her white cell count went up. When Rubin got sick and we where having a difficult time pilling him so The vet gave him a shot of Winstrol, it is a steroid, and he did show signs of improvement with it. He was also on the pill form of it and predisone and the Baytril ( when he could keep it down), the shot was an added boost for him. Good luck and keep us posted We are sending healing vibes your way. Gina ---------------------------------------- Date sent: Mon, 7 Sep 1998 09:47:39 -0500 (CDT) From: "Nancy A. I know all the trouble you have with pilling her, but I still wonder if a daily dose (eventually tapering) wouldn't help her beat the Hemobart, at least temporarily--I know it can come back. When the vet suspected Hemobart with Jake and Panther, they were both on Prednisone for the duration of the antibioltics. I know when I first saw this site, it was startling to find both so much information AND that wonderful attitude that says our feline companions are members of the family, NOT pets, thank you very much! I'm sure this is just one of many awards and recognitions your site will get. Please, for the sake of all the kitties out there who are battling or who will battle this disease, and for those who have already battled and left us, keep up the good work! I know all of us on this list will work along with you.
