Please don't give up yet. As has been mentioned, the Acemannan might be better for Panda--also consider Ambrotose, DMG, Pet Tinnic, Thymus, and Vit. C. Please try and get hold of Periactin to stimulate appetite--it works extremely well. Hang in there! We will be here for you, no matter what. Thinking of you and Panda. Everybodies hard work is being recognised. It is indeed an honor to have this award. More importantly is that people seeking help are finding it for their cats. Congrats everyone, keep those FAQ's and information pieces coming in. barb ---------------------------------------- Date sent: Sun, 06 Sep 1998 15:03:04 -0700 From: Francine Prager To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Hi, I'm new to the List Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hi Nancy, Gina, Beth, and EVERYONE I"ve recently been in touch with: I can hardly believe all the wonderful support I've been getting these past few days and all the wonderful advice.:-))) Panda has an appointment with the (local) vet on Tuesday. I will discuss with him everything that has been mentioned on this list. I do know he is willing to try just about anything and everything. A trip to Cornell is certainly possible and probable. There is no way I will give up on my guy. I might mention some "good" news...at his last vet visit (on Friday), he was maintaining his weight. Unfortunately he is down to 6 pounds from 8 1/2, but holding steady at 6. Sigh...... I've been doing some research on this in case my cat develops cancer. Finding out about different treatments is making me feel a little less scared, but I hope I won't need to use them. Here's some more links for Acemannan, remember although this research looks good some researchers are skeptical www.carringtonlabs.com/rd.html www.ralphmoss.com/aloevera.html There's different treatment options for fibrosarcomas compared here www.geocities.com/~kremersark/protocol.html and this page has many cancer links with info on more traditional treatments www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/1151/hlthlnks.htm It's good you have a vet who will help you choose what's best for Panda. I am so proud to be part of this list. Just look how many people have become educated through this site. The night Lefty was diagnosed I sat up all night searching the net...I hit one worthless site after another until I found this one. I was so happy to find everything I needed to start my battle. Your sweet Vyvvan contributed greatly to the fight to educate vets and cat owners alike. I am thankful you took the time to do all the work you have done. We have all greatly benefited from it...Thank you so much! What is the product Pet tinic? Pet-Tinic is a liquid vitamin mineral supplement with Iron that is especially good for anemic cats. > What do you use it for and where does one get it? Your vet should carry it, and I think pet stores and such will also have it. > Second question. Is licking the floor and eating > litter a sign of anemia in cats. Thankyou Yes. It is a subconscious reaction to mineral depletion associated with anemia. I'm working on a FAQ sheet for this phenomenon, and it will be available soon on the FeLV info page. If your cat is doing this, be sure that you are NOT using any type of clumping clay litter- it will clog his digestive tract. Some folks recently posted some good alternatives that help prevent such problems- some include Shweat Scoop, Feline Pine, litters made from shredded newspaper, etc. I hope this info helps. Please review our FeLV info page at: http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/Spa/8025/ for more details regarding your questions. Take care, and best wishes.
