Maybe it wasn't just the water situation - my parents used to raise Betas. If you still have it, take it back to the store where you got it if you've only had it for a few days - but don't mention exactly what happened. Maybe they will replace it for you. Now they are together and waiting until the time all of you will be reunited at the bridge. It does sound like she gave you the permission you needed to let her go. That, to me, explains the peace you feel, as well as knowing that she is out of pain. Please let us know if there is any assistance you need, as Barb says, no matter how small. May time soften the pain until all that remains is the beauty of the memories...and the love. I hope you will stay with us as we all fight to find better remedies and the eventual cure. There is peace in letting go of suffering and pain. I can just see Ashley Rose at the bridge with her Mama and all the wonderful kitties we all have lost, playing and chasing butterflies. Please know you are in my thoughts today. I read her story while searching for more info On Feline Lukemia. The information thru the mailing list has been very helpful but we had to have Kitty put to sleep last night. I couldn't stand seeing her suffer anymore. She developed tumors on her lungs and was having to many difficulties in breathing. I know I did the right thing for Kitty but it doesn't make it any easier to deal with. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has a sick kitty or who has lost a special friend to this disease. I know Kitty will be with us FOREVER in our hearts!!!! Thank you again..... The peeing, do the vets think that it is medical or is it more psycological? That is good that it has been 7 weeks since a seizure KEep us posted Gina ---------------------------------------- From: "Lynn or Josiah Stickels" To: "felvtalk" Subject: Stinker-new hope Date sent: Wed, 26 Aug 1998 10:26:36 -0700 Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hi! I had my appointment with the new vet yesterday for Stinker. Alot of new ideas, treatments, and a vet who really cares.:) First of all, she took his history and then gave him a thorough exam. She sent off for a complete blood work-up and test for FeLV and FIV to see how he stands and so she will know where to start and which treatments to use. She said that the acupunture will work with gingivits.:) Stinker gets his first treatment next week. She injects the acupuncture site with B12 to speed up the process so the kitty won't have to sit still so long. The particular problem with Stinker's mouth is in the back of the molars at the back of the jaw. Anyway, she said it has been found that the calici virsus could be the cause of this certain type of mouth disease. There is something out there for pain other than baby aspirin!:) It is called: Torbugesic Oral, taken two to three times daily as needed and it works! Another medicine that she said was better than the Depro Medrol was Dexamethasone injections. Some other treatments available which she may use is Gold Salt Therapy. You have to monitor it closely as it may lower the white blood count. She also can, I forget how, but do something to keep the leukemia virus from attacking Stinker's mouth to let it heal. She has another treatment than all the others that I've tried for Stinker's eyes. I will learn more next week. Leukemia cat's eyes tend to dialate off and on. I got some bach remedy for the next visit as Stinker was a very unhappy kitty yesterday!:{ She said to use only a glass eye dropper. Well, I wanted to share some of this stuff in case it was new to you all and in the hopes that it will be of help to other kitties.:) I'll let you know what happens in the future........................Lynn(Stinker) PS: The flagyl that I used last week made Stinker very, very sick. So to anyone who ever is told to give it to your kitty, be careful. It was awful, I thought that I had killed my Stinker! ---------------------------------------- From: GinaTex@aol.com Date sent: Wed, 26 Aug 1998 16:21:16 EDT To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Stinker-new hope Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Lynn That is GREAT news about Stinker. You did a brave and courageous thing by releasing her from her pain. I know how hard that is and how sorrowful you are without her. But she is now at the peaceful and beautiful bridge with all the other precious creatures we've lost. Please know that we all *know* how badly you feel and sympathize with your loss. My Panther will help show her around and make her comfortable. Nancy ---------------------------------------- From: "Hope" To: Subject: Licking glass Date sent: Wed, 26 Aug 1998 17:25:40 -0400 Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net hello. Have any of you ever heard of a kitty licking glass? The only reason I can think of for cats to do this is if maybe they have a fever and the glass is cool. This is what my Scout started doing a week or so before he passed on. He was perfectly healthy up until that time. The vet said that his own blood cells were attacking and killing other blood cells, but that he didn't test positive for leukemia or FIV or anything else. It was ruled a 'genetic' disorder. hope ---------------------------------------- From: "James G. It is a subconscious desire to replenish lost minerals due to the destruction of the red blood cells. I'm so sorry that you lost your friend Scout to what probably was a genetic disorder- there is still so much that we don't know...... Take care, and best wishes.
