I am still hoping that you will experience a miracle with Ashley Rose. Undoubtedly, some liquid supplement could certainly help. Is she drinking? You could always consider some Ringer's Lactate to help hydrate her. I've had cats who respond very well to being hydrated. I didn't think he would live thru the night, but he did. It took nearly 3 wks of constant, almost 24 hr care, to get him back on his feet. Wobbley, but on them. I lost him about 3 months later, practically overnight, but I wouldn't give up those weeks for anything. What will be, will be. Do what you can, follow your instincts as to what is right. Please let us know if there is anything, however small or strange you may think it is, that we can do for you. barb ---------------------------------------- Date sent: Tue, 25 Aug 1998 13:20:45 -0400 From: Hope To: "felvtalk@MailingList.net" Subject: The five kittens in Ohio Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hello. My heart goes out to all of you who are struggling with the losses of your loved ones. I believe that we all can empathize your pain. I lost Scout about a year ago to a rare genetic blood disorder and I haven't quite gotten over yet watch him fade before our eyes. I thought I would give you all an update on my Mom's kittens. First of all, she did not put them to sleep this morning like the original vet encouraged. She took the other 3 to a different vet to be tested on Saturday and they all also tested positive. This vet (who is a cat person) said that she would have a terrible time putting down these active, playful and presently quite healthy kittens. Vet #1 (the one who tested the original 2) sent out their blood samples to do what he called a "titer test" I have not seen a test called this in any of the reading that I have been doing. Is this another name for one of the others tests you have been talking about? These results were due in today, but I have not heard yet. She has had no luck finding any homes (foster or otherwise) for these wee ones. No one has anywhere to keep them so that they will be isolated. She said that if she didn't already have Tinkerbell, Mimi and Petunia that she would keep all five of them herself. The rescue group has been lucky for so long with healthy animals, but because we don't know anyone with a + kitty, we have no where to try to go with these girls. Please keep us in mind and keep your eyes open for a good home for these great fur balls. hope mcgonigle.3@osu.edu ---------------------------------------- Date sent: Tue, 25 Aug 1998 13:21:09 -0400 (EDT) From: Kat To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: stray kits in GA. Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Kit, Some people have been trying CoQ10 and Thymus hormone in addition to the items that Jim listed. I believe the Thymus hormone also helps stimulate the immune system, and the CoQ10 helps the gums (gingivitis) among other benefits. Thank you all for understanding. I stayed with Domenique while the vet gave her the injection - she didn't even try to fight the needle - it's as if she knew she was being released to go play again. I love you all for your support and sympathies. Thank You. Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Okay guys, I talked to the vet who has been so very wonderful to work with me and my positive kitties. The vet tech there (who has 3 positive cats herself) said that she would be sure to ask around and see what she can do. She also said...."Well, I may even be able to squeeze on in with my own crew...I have a little double-decker building and fenced yard and they would have plenty of room to roam..." Doesn't that sound promising???? Well, I told her we would find a way to get them down here from northern Ohio. We live in the very southern part of the state so if anybody has any ideas, please pass them along. I will be going there in the morning to pick up some interferon for Poncho. This vet tech also had never heard of Baypumun or the other drug. She was VERY interested in this stuff. She is also going to see that their vet gets added to the list of vets who treat positive cats. I am so excited. If anybody has anything especially informative that they want to pass along (I just won't have much time to hit the archives tonight) please send it to me personally and I will print it out and take it to her tomorrow. They have internet capabilities, but are currently down due to puter problems. I am really excited about these people. They are the wonderful ones who sent me cards when they learned of Lefty's death. They are just incredible and I want them to be very well informed. Any url's or info you send will get to them--I promise! Thanks and keep those fingers and paws crossed that we can find home for some of these little doll babies!!!! I'm going to let her go to a place where she can be that spunky little devil she used to be. I know that I am making the right decision I just wish that it didn't hurt so much. Tonight when I come home she will no longer be waiting for me, looking at me with her big beautiful green eyes or even resting her head on my lap like she used to when I sat down to watch some TV but she'll always be in my heart along with her older sister Mama and I know they'll both keep a watchful eye on my husband and I until it's our turn to be with them again. What an awful week this has been for so many. I have been thru this 5 times myself and I know in my heart that those that leave us here, send another, of their choosing to ease our pain and make us smile again. My Merlin is gone, but he sent me Indiana Jones, who is so much like him, not just in appearence but the sparkle in his eyes. In those eyes, he lives again. When you are ready, Ashley Rose will send another for you to love. barb ---------------------------------------- Date sent: Tue, 25 Aug 1998 16:53:57 -0400 To: felvtalk@MailingList.net From: Angela Holderby Subject: Re: Tut Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net I am so very sorry for your pain. Date: Tue, 25 Aug 1998 22:45:46 -0400 Hello again (for everyone, but especially Angela), I talked to my mom tonight and she said the vet called about the two tests they sent out. I guess the results were inconclusive and they need to [have] better samples. I told her what you said about the vet tech. That would be so wonderful if she could take the kittens. Mom would be happy to give whatever monetary or food or whatever assistance she would need. If you would like to call her or if the woman at the office would like to contact her, her phone number is 513-539-8133. Please call collect. Oh, I almost forgot! Her name is Reba McGonigle (that might help!) Hope mcgonigle.3@osu.edu ---------------------------------------- END
