Both my siamese scream the entire time, driving there, there and driving home and for good measure, one poops on himself, every time. Thank God both are negative and only have one trip a year! I don't think I, or the vets, could stand anymore! Well, I always get a free bath out of it. The vet doesn't want to touch him all covered with...well, covered, so he has his girls wash him. barb ---------------------------------------- Date sent: Thu, 30 Jul 1998 12:19:53 -0700 (PDT) From: The Drunken Celt Subject: Re: passing To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Thanks and Blessings to both of you.. --Fuguee ---------------------------------------- From: "Equinox Corp." Are you completely giving up on treating Tails or are you just giving up the hard drugs(no pun intended). I ask this cos there's info on the list re: Valium stimulating appetite. Barb has info on this one. Same w/B vitamin. Eeither injected once a week,( expensive & ends up in the litter box) or given daily 1 cc,orally if Tails weighs between 8-10 poinds. Liquid Bvit is available @ health food srores &it's cheap. You're to be commended for the quality of info you've supplied to our group tho' you've just joined us not too long ago. Tails is in very good hands. I wish I were as astute as you when my Alice first tested felv+. On the other hand, @ the risk of digressing here, I spent & years of my childhood in bed first w/TB & then w/all kinds of other illnesses. Lamb chops, liver& vitamins were important but antibiotics saved my life. I'm giving 10 mg daily for maintenance, but there used to be a vet on the list who recommended 50 mg daily when gums aren't healthy. There's also been info on the list that Vit. C should be sodium ascorbate & that it shouldn't exceed 1000 mg per week. I add supplements to a little canned cat food & they lick their bowls clean. I also put Prozyme on their dry food. My FeLV+ cat that hasn't had symptoms just gets supplements (antioxidants & DMG, there's more info on the FeLV Project Information Sheet). My other FeLV+ had a URI in Dec. so he's also had a series of ImmunoRegulin IV's & is on interferon 1cc 7 days on & off. I'm going to continue the Ireg. 1/2 cc IV every 4 weeks, but I may stop the interferon. It doesn't affect his personality or anything, but he's healthy other than a slight runny nose & I'm not sure this is a symptom or just because he has some permanent damage. (Nurses, what is the symptom of a symptom called?) Welcome to you & Pushy. Was that his original name, or did he earn it? CLAP CLAP CLAP! Now.. I've got a silly question : I'm seriously thinking of giving Hershey Vitamin C as everyone is suggesting. In what FORM are you buying it? I buy 1000 mg tablets for myself.. can I just CRUSH up one of these or are you buying it in powder form already? And.. are you just squirting the Vitamin E capsule in Tails mouth or also mixing it with food? Thanks for enlightening me! ;-) > Debby, & the HBG (the HairballGang) ---------------------------------------- From: "Equinox Corp." Certainly, they prefer food items w/unpleasant odors. I'll digress, I live in the NorthWest, the fresh seafood capital of the planet. I've tried to get Beatrice to eat Salmon(all kinds, raw, cooked, slightly microwavwed) shrimp, snapper w/no success. what does she prefer? Western Family Tuna, Friske's canned fish produccts & loves days old, foul smelling raw oysters. Go, figure. so, I've given up fiighting w/her. She gets her Ambrotose in the morning w/her raw liver. Everything else gets mixed w/2 Tspoons of the foulest smelling commercial cat food product I can find. I'm hoping all the goodies she consumes inadvertantly will way overcompensate the Friskies & the Sheeba sardine. Tails weighs 6.5 pounds.? I'd set the dose @0.8 cc. how about deli style Turkey breas/?Beatrice really loves it. Saliha ---------------------------------------- From: "zimmerman" To: "felvtalk" Subject: Vit. C Date sent: Thu, 30 Jul 1998 17:11:22 -0400 Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Yeah Randall, I don't know either what the difference is, or how many different kinds of Vit. C there are. The guy who used to be on the list said sodium ascorbate was a good kind for cats & the kind humans sometimes use has too much acid, or wasn't absorbed as well, or something like that. What mg are you using ??? I know what I have in the house for myself is 1000 mg which I'm SURE must be too much for a cat.. and I heard that too much Vitamin C causes diarrhea in a kitty. I can live without THAT! :-0 thanks SO much Randall for all the advice and directions... I'll go to my health food store tomorrow to see if I can find *it * - once you tell me how many mgs? >> Debby, & the HBG (the HairballGang) ---------------------------------------- From: EchoSynch@aol.com Date sent: Thu, 30 Jul 1998 23:49:34 EDT To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Lai-Tai's vet visit Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Pam, This is great news indeed.
