My allegiance isn't blind, I care & pay attention, my view just isn't as negative as yours. Let's end this folks. We all agree that "Power corrupts; and absolute power corrupts absolutely". Corruption exists in ANY government on this planet; some just more than others. No one on this list is immune to that corruption, in what ever country they reside. We all love our countries or we wouldn't be living in them. So let's get on with the important issue here: taking care of our kitties. Leave the politics to the politicians and the ballot box. Beth, your view may not be as negative as mine, but I fear you don't have nearly as much (if any) first-hand experience in being on the receiving end of such corruption. I have (and still am). Rena, thank you for reminding me of Russell's words- it is much appreciated. Barb (and everyone else), I used the example of the form letter to show what blind allegiance leads to- though, it all stemmed from my fairly accurate portayal of our system for approving drugs (and many other matters) in this country. I stand firmly behind those words. Angela, since you and I already worked this out privately, I apologize for singling you out in all of this. Remember folks, freedom = vigilance, and I'll continue to fight against corruption and injustice- even if it offends the most patriotic among us. PS: Someone out there please tell us to get back on-topic. I can't do it since I'm deeply involved in this thread, and it might appear as censorship if I call for an end to it :) In loving memory of Vyvyan: March 20, 1988 - August 15, 1997 James G. Mama Cat has a name of her own... Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Well - I have 87 message yet to go, so I hope this has already been worked out. At any rate - I think I posted that, quite serendipitously, the VIP Vaccine folks were doing their clinic today at the site that is closest to me. So, I stuffed Mama back into the carrier - much to her disgust - and took her over there. I know the risk for sarcoma - but until I'm sure the house is FeLV free - this is only her second shot, and I want to give her as much protection as I can. She got a lot of compliments! In case I haven't described her, she's a long-haired Tortie, with spots, swirls, stripes, patches - her face is mostly black, but her back is mostly gold. It was good to hear someone else thinks she's gorgeous also! In honor of bringing her home, I decided she should have a name of her own - not just be known as "somebody's mom", so I thought about it for a bit. One person suggested "Psyche", from my psychic need to bring her home - but that didn't quite ring right. So, I thought about looking into the Jungle Books, to see if Mama Wolf had a name of her own (I called her two boys Akela and Grey Brother) - but then though about "Earth Mother" type names. After thinking about Demeter and Ceres and Sakhmet, I finally decided on Gaia - the "Earth Mother" Goddess of the Greeks (I think - can't find her in my books. I don't know if it's pronounced "Gay-ah" or "Gy-ah" - does anyone know? At any rate - Mama Cat is now Gaia. He tested felv+. I have really grown attached to this boy--he's very sweet, very pretty. (charcoal grey short hair). I currently have 11 cats who are all neg. so there is no possibility of keeping him upstairs in our living area. He's howling in the old basement garage right now. (It's dark and dirty--I'd howl too.) I will continue taking care of him the best I can, but it is incredibly depressing since I can't give him a better home. I started him on immunoregulin today, but I don't think that's going to work out--we'll probably order some interferon instead. I'm just heart sick about this--you all know that feeling. Anyway, I'm having George neutered this Tuesday. We'll go from there.
