Sorry. Since they didn't put a name to it, I did not know whom to respond to. I'm very glad all the test results came back so "normal". Nothing makes us happier. However, I tend to disagree somewhat about what your vet states about the IFA test. Rissa-Tai tested negative twice with ELISA, the IFA was what finally told us what was wrong. Bone marrow biopsies are more stressful for the cats and require anesthesia as well. As you know, we always see differing opinions on just about everything here, I guess the best we can do is research all options and decide what is best for our babies on an individual basis. Good luck with future test results, and I'm glad you got a respite. When we were discussing options in regards to Rissa-Tai, the vet explained that if the bone marrow biopsy is taken from the "wrong" bone - maybe one without a problem, that it can have a false reading, as a bone in another leg or whatever can be the cause of the problem. Anyway, as I said, all we can do is the research and then choose what we think is best. Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net No, I don't think he has an URL. He was a very nice vet who used to be on this list who answered questions for us. If you have a question you'd like to direct specifically to him, just ask Jim to forward it. He usually responds within two to three days or so. I don't know about a DMG site, I got all the info I have from this mailing list. Does anyone else know of one? The reason we are able to get it for our cats is because it is an experimental drug here, and animal medicine isn't subject to all the same rules and regs that people medicine is. Aren't we lucky? It, just like ImmunoRegulin for the treatment of FeLV, is "off label". If I listed all the meds in this country being used off label, I would be here for years! barb ---------------------------------------- Date sent: Sat, 25 Jul 1998 09:24:36 +0100 From: CatWoman To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Okay - keep some vibes this direction... Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hi All, I just had a post from the Holisticat List Owner about a FeLV+ kitty in Riverside, CA who desparately needs a home. Her name is Tiggy and is about 4 years old, a little dainty striped tabby with tummy fur the color of coffee with lots of cream. She's energetic and loves to play, scratches only on what she is supposed to, and is a nuzzler. She tested weak positive and will be retested next week. Just wondered if anyone out in Catifornia could give this little girl a loving home. Diana? Linda? Please email me personally if you think you could help Tiggy. My flag waves very day. I have never missed an election since the day I turned 21. (Yes that long ago, when it was 21) I am a cspan and CNN jukie. Is the entire country corrupt? Of course not, is there some corruption within the the government? Of course there is, always has been and always will be. It is our duty as citizens to be ever vigilant for it, feret it out and NEVER turn a blind eye to it. The problem with the silent majority is we stay to silent. Or we say, it will go away, or he's almost out of office, so who cares. We now have over 60% of the country who not only don't care if our President commits adultery, but now they don't even care if lies under oath. Where does it end? When will people start to care? Those two men yesterday put their bodies between a loon and visiting children. They gave their lives to protect others and their place in heaven was waiting for them. "No greater sacrifice....." What would dishonor them if we don't pay attention to what's going on all around us. WE are the government, WE must protect this country from all threats without AND within. I'm not a radical and believe in making changes from the voting booth, but sadly, only about 40% of us vote at all. THis is very off topic, but I would love to continue discussions privately to any and all who wish to do so. barb ---------------------------------------- From: "James G. Wilson" To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Date sent: Sat, 25 Jul 1998 13:10:08 +0000 Subject: Re: USA USA USA Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Dianna (Catwoman) posted a message yesterday explaining a bad situation going on in New York City where a large number of pets have been trapped in a building that was closed after a scaffolding accident last Tuesday. Those pets have been without food and water for all this time. It is the mayor of New York that is not allowing anyone to go in and rescue these poor animals. I had offered to help her create a form letter to urge the mayor to reconsider his policy at one of our websites. Folks could go to it, read it, and, if they chose, could press a button to have it sent to the mayor's office (their email would suffice as their personal signature). Now that I have been characterized as some kind of treasonous demon dog for "whining" about the injustice that appears within "the system", perhaps I should retract that offer. Although my "whining" (and action, Angela, don't forget about that since you've benefited from my *actions* to stop injustice within the veterinary community!) might well help to save those poor creatures, I suppose it is best if I be a patriot and leave them to die in the name of blind allegiance. Sorry Diana- and, BTW, yes, making the form as a cgi to work with all browsers is within my capabilities (I just wish I'd thought of it yesterday when we were all on the same side.)
