But it has to be the 4 hr Allergy-only formula. He also recommends the Benadryl Pediatric liquid antihistamine for those of us who prefer liquids to pills. If a cat is itchy because of allergies, the antihistimines should help, otherwise the vets usually give a shot of prednisolone/steroids to help reduce itching. But as long as Hershey is not exhibiting any symptoms, as long as he is acting well, then maybe this test result really is just notification that he's fighting it off - and winning. Give him all the love you can, and let your heart lead you to the supplements you feel will help him win this fight. And tell him he's got a heck of a cheerleading squad on this list cheering for him every step of the way. Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Naomi, Welcome Oyster!! What a cute name - only 3 pounds?? I'm sure he'll just blossom under your love and care. Kittens are so adorable, inquisitive, curious, trusting... As long as he's made friends with the dog, he should be able to win Keigen over too. Keep us posted. It comes in capsule form and gel-cap form. There are 2 web sites that can provide you with more info: http://www.mresources.co.uk/q10/intro-1.html http://www.doglogic.com/coq10arndt.htm I've been using it on my kitty "Domenique" to help the blood carry more oxygen throughout her body. I'm using the 30 mg capsules from Nature's Sunshine because I trust that what they say on the bottle is what you get, and if they use any fillers, they say so. The information on their bottle reads: CoQ10 is a vitamine-like nutrient necessary for essential enzyme function. Enzymes induce chemical changes within cells. CoQ10 produces adenosine triphosphate (ATP), needed to produce energy in all cells, and also acts as a powerful antioxidant. I've also heard it is wonderful for healing bad gums. Hope this helps. (Yes - that's shouting!) I used them a *LOT* when Biscuit had CRF, to get her SubCu fluids and the needles and venosets - brought the cost down from $15/bottle through the vet to about $5-6/bottle. If I ever get up the nerve to give my own vaccines, this is where I'd go. The ELISA tests can be wrong about 70% of the time, so the IFA test is the next step. However, if your cat was anemic, it is the most common symptom of FeLV> You're very lucky your cat likes the Pet-Tinic - mine runs when she sees the dropper. As far as the Epogen goes, there has been a lot of discussion in the past on the list concerning it. Your best bet to read up on it is to search the archives at http://thor.prohosting.com/~felvinfo/ and type in Epogen. I believe I am the only one on the list who has tried it, unfortunately, it is very expensive and we did get good treatment results. Your best bet is to check the archives and see what everyone had to say and make up your mind as to how you want to pursue that avenue. If you have any questions about the actual usage of it, let me know - I'll be happy to answer any questions that I can. However, our cats do have an immune system problem, so raw meat can cause real problems if you have a contaminated piece. Check the archives, as well as the FAQ sheet attached to the angelfire site. I, as well as a few others, answered a few questions about nutrition. It's a good place to start. They also charge less than retail for Prozyme (it actually was cheaper than getting it from the Prozyme company when I checked a couple of days ago before ordering some), as well as being a less expensive place for Pet-Tinic than the vet's. They have a lot of stuff in there that is less expensive than going to the pet store or the vets - HOWEVER, there are also a lot of immunizations and drugs that are available through this catalog as well. I would not advise prescribing and giving these to your pets by yourselves - vets are the experts here - don't do anything as far as some of that stuff goes without consulting with an expert somewhere please!!!! It's definitely something "caught" - could be fur, but not in the stomach (furballs are brought up with very obvious vomiting actions!). I have two cats who have bad allergy reactions who do this regularly - I have a feeling that it's more of an asthmatic reaction than a furball - and with the constant washing, it sounds like Ringo is itchy also. You might ask the vet about an anti-hystamine during the bad allergy seasons... Liquid DMG - 30 ml - 7.99 120 ml - 26.99 Co Q10 - 100 x10 mg capsules - 14.99 60 x30 mg caps - 17.99 KV Vet Supply Co. P.O. Box 245, 3190 N Rd David City, NE 68632-0245 800-423-8211 The Co Q10 is a supplement related to Vit. K that produces higher antibody levels & has been proven to benefit the health of gums. I'm going to check with my vet that it's OK to use with the other things I'm giving my FeLV+ cats & then start them on it. Since FeLV+'s are prone to gum disease I think this will be a good idea along with brushing their teeth. The catalog also has the RE-SORB James mentioned for hydration. It's only 1.49 a packet so I'm going to get 1 to have on hand if needed. Plus, you just never know when you might have to scour a calf. I try to keep the size of the file down. Just a second ago my cat made a weird sound. Kinda like sneezing. He did it like 10 times and I was wondering if there was a problem with him or just a hair ball. He has never made this sound since we got him. He has been licking himself for about 20 now. That is what he does most of his awake time. ---------------------------------------- Date sent: Fri, 24 Jul 1998 08:47:36 +0100 From: "Sonja Lnders" To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Super Nutrition For Animals Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Gina, and all, I would not be at all surprised if the microwave did play a part.... Research has shown they are not so good for us, although the manufacturers tend to keep this quiet. Unfortunately cats are radiation seekers, whereas dogs shun rays. A friend told me she was advised to give her microwave to her worst enemy for a present! They destroy the nutrition in the food as they break down the cells. I would not have one in my house!.....Do I hear a howl of protest? Anyway, this is the promise I have given myself: If Schurli recovers completely, it would mean we have a cure in the German goodies he is getting, and if you are still unable to obtain them, I shall pack a bag full of what anyone of you sweet people want for your furries, and personally fly over to N.Y. or someplace to deliver it, a n d t h a t ' s a p r o m i s e ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
