Wilson asks about what protocol I am using Here is what I have been doing On the bottle of interferon it says 30 units/ml And the protocol says 1 unit per day I have an eye dropper marked in ml and I have been giving him 1 ml it is a very small amount. It says to give him this dosage for 7 consecutive days then take him off for seven days and then repeat Is this the best method? Does my interpretation sound correct? Can I freeze what I am not going to need? How long does it take to see any improvement? A syringe without a needle may be easier to use. The interferon should be refrigerated & what you won't use up in 2 months should be frozen. What are your cats symptoms? Have you read the treatment page & the information sheet? There's alot of helpful information in them. Keep asking questions, there's people on the list willing to help. Sounds like you're doing a great job with Nikita. As far as the dosage on the aloe juice, it's my understanding that you give approximately 1/10th the human dose for most holistic products. All cannot be for naught - we'll never learn what helps unless we try. Best of luck! I understand how frustrating it is to feel somewhat hopeless facing FELV. I lost 2 to the disease before I found "alternative treatments" and a vet that was willing to try them. My third Felv kitty, George, was on interferon, immunoregulin, and prednisone for 5 months. When she started the treatments, she was anemic and had a dangerously low rbc. During the treatments, she was happy and healthy. She died in April but these treatments extended her life and gave us more precious time with her. Some people wouldn't consider this success but I certainly do. She had extra time and we had the peace of mind that we did everything we could for her. There's nothing worse than watching a precious friend progressively decline and not being able to do ANYTHING (this is what happened with my second FELV cat-our vet at the time just sent her home with a death sentence and didn't try anything). So, I consider these treatments to be worthwhile. They seem to at least be extending cat's lives and improving the quality of them. You also might want to talk to list members about Ambrotose and vitamin C crystals--many members have used this combo for their cats. (Ambrotose is made from aloe vera I believe.) Also, in Diane Stein's book, Natural Healing for Dogs and Cats, there is some info on various alternative treatments (i.e., herbs, homeopathy, and vitamins) for felv. Also Richard Pitcairn discusses alternative (homeopathic in this case) treatments for felv in his book Natural Health for Dogs and Cats. I haven't used any of the methods suggested in these book. I've only started reading them, and my felv+ kitty Ernie passed away in April.... I also have not used interferon, but others can tell you their experiences. I sympathise w/ you about trying to get the pill in the cat--it seems impossible at times. Anyhow, Charlie, welcome to the list. But, it is up and running at: http://thor.prohosting.com/~felvinfo/chatform.html When you log on, you have to hit the "post" button without writing any text in the space provided to update the chat space. That's the main bug with it right now. I'll let y'all know as soon as I fix it or change scripts. Take care, and I'll talk to y'all soon.
