I just went up there. He is growling and hissing. Hope I can catch him in the morning. How do you go about introducing the new cat into the hosuehold? I guess I've decided to call him Nicky. Short for Just in the Nick of Time. Tomorrow was his last day on earth if I hadn't brought him home. He is a tiger in colr. ANyway I will probably have the vet board him along with Harley until they both get their second FeLV shot. I am going to ask the two be put close to each other. Chaz just fit right in. I didn't bother introducing him at all, but he was smaller. Any suggestions? Actually, if I took him, he would not be happy at what he sees and HE might take them all! We had some rip roarin storms come thru. Hope they are done. Judy and Diana, I do think I'll take in the kittens (actually big 12# cats now!) to be retested, just for my own peace of mind. Judy, those kittens are no longer feral--Joe is the biggest Mama's boy in the house, and Oscar is very sweet, too--though a little shy. It's such great news about Jim's new computer. I really feel like this is an accomplishment. Cheri, that's such a heroic thing you did--rescuing a cat who's going to be put down...it sounds like a Chicken Soup for the Pet lover's Soul story. Larry inadvertantly forgot to mention himself when giving out the extra-special nods of appreciation, so I'll make the nod for him :) Larry, thank you also for your observations about this world being a little better than what TV and the news makes it out to be- though it's easy to focus on all of the bad things that go on around us, it sure is good to know that people such as y'all exist who care so much for our feline friends and for each other. It is truly heartwarming. This computer is working beyond my wildest expectations, and I'm slowly but surely getting oriented to it- still getting data transferred and restored to it from the old dinosaur :) I hope to have the archives up-to-date by Monday, and I know I have some mail left unanswered that needs to be done (I apologize to those of you who haven't heard back from me, yet). Take care, and again, give yourselves a much-deserved pat on the back for helping make this world a better place for us and our furry friends. It somehow seemed just perfect. Well, as for the fourth and last one--you never know what perfectly adorable beast will come along next. Ages ago I was supposed to stop at three: Zackie (now deceased), his queen (spayed) Laura and the princess (Tuffy--terrible name but it was hers when she came and she responded to it, so I didn't have the heart to change it). Then along came Arnie, someone's neutered housecat dumped at the local barn. He was such a marshmallow (soft and sweet), I couldn't resist. We were up to four. Then came Bootie (another one of those terrible names that I couldn't change because he responded to it). He was such a bad boy, and destined to become a barn cat. NOT! and then we were five. Zackie died in 1994 (shortly after Bootie arrived--no connection), and yup! four was gonna be it. But then here came this pathetic semi-feral who needed feeding. I held off quite a while but then he started sleeping in the window well. You guessed it-he had to belong to our cat family. Sweetie, as he is lovingly called, is anything but sweet. He doesn't like to be pet, only I can pick him up (gingerly and only for a gew moments at a time). If you sit beside him on the couch, he gets up and leaves. Makes you wonder, but I love him dearly. Somehow those kitties see the big S on our foreheads and just call to us to make them ours--funny, it always seems to work. Good luck with your new charges. Eventually tho her hind and front leg would be going, as if scratching or pawing at the air, not like an epileptic fit because as soon as she sat up, it stopped. I took her to five vets (the first one diagnosed fleas - except that she didnt have any - duh!!) and all were absolutely stumped.  In the end, she was put onto homeopathic remedies (forget what but can find out if it will help) and I give her seditives if she has these "fits" again.  Since she started the homeopathic stuff she has had very few. To this day, it remains an absolute mystery and the vets were forced to admit defeat as to why an otherwise perfectly healthy animal should have this problem.  After the episode, she showed no ill effects whatsoever. I should mention that the problem began the day after my precious and beloved German Shepherd Zeus who was Jessie's lifelong companion of 10 years died.  I firmly believe these seizures or whatever the hell they were had as much to do with grief as anything else. These kind of mysteries we can do without, no?   Has anyone heard from Lynne?  I do hope she is doing okay Luv and kittens, MANDY -------------------------------- From: Paula Lazo [PLAZO@MAIL.TECNOPOLIS.CL] Sent: Friday, June 12, 1998 8:47 AM To: 'Felv Talk List' Subject: RV: Names for Cheri's kitty Dear Cheri: Congratulations for being such a caring person, those kitties are really lucky, and Lucky was the name of my baby, he was like the kitty you described first (black and white), but I think that maybe this other new one (cause I think you already named the first one Harley-nice-) could be called Gato, Luna, Canela, Toqui or Sancho.
