Is their a web site on you? I love this list as well because of all the care everyone shows for their cats. My animals are my best friends and my "children" as well. Keep up the good work. Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hi Lynn I have never heard of that. Are the kittens still nursing? Maybe the mother cat developed mastitis and the cottage cheese substance might be the milk. Check her mammary glands to see if they are swollen, hard, warm, and painful. Have you consulted a vet yet? Good luck with her. Judy ---------------------------------------- From: Newtanator@aol.com Date sent: Fri, 5 Jun 1998 18:44:23 EDT To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: updates Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net all, No, the list isn't down, I guess it was a quiet day. I haven't had much time this week to do much. My car decided to start acting up and since it had 139+ thousand miles on it, I decided it was time to get another one. My younger son and I spent every free minute haunting used car lots and finally one that was suitable. So it is nice to drive a car that I am pretty sure will get me to my next patients house without bucking and snorting all the way there. The most exciting news is I have a new baby! One of my coworkers had a kitten dumped off in front of their house and they couldn't keep him so guess who she came to. I have named him Nicholas. He is black and white and looks very much like my Kallie did. (lost to FeLV). He is about 7-8 wks old and full of fire and vinagar. Such a little doll. No pics yet, but soon. Jack does well also and has settled in nicely. He craves attention all the time and is as sweet as he can be. I am so glad I brought him in. He makes no attempts to get out and just wants held as much as possible. I will get to the mail tomorrow. I have to get a frontend loader and try to blaze a trail thru my house since everything got put on hold while car hunting. barb ---------------------------------------- Date sent: Fri, 05 Jun 1998 19:50:31 +0100 To: felvtalk@MailingList.net From: BILL BEAMISH Subject: Re: Re: Judy's house Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hi Gina, Thanks for your support! I don't have a web site - yet! I'm working on it. I want everyone to see pictures of my "kids"!! I was very computer illiterate until about a year ago so I don't know how to do a web site but I've had offers from friends to help me so it's just a matter of finding time to do it. This time of year is very busy for me - with cats and my human kids! End of school field trips, Katie's dance recital, which is a big production and time consuming, not to mention graduations, weddings, etc. I'm hoping to really get to work on the web site the last week of June, first week of July. I'll be sure to let you know when I have it up. I know you miss him terribly. I hope the pain you feel lessens soon. It's true it'll never go away completely but it will be more tolerable with time. I have special memories of every one of my cats on the Bridge list. I've never forgotten a single one of them or the pain of their loss. I wish you peace and comfort. When I saw your list of kitties at the candle ceremony, I was astounded! I thought how could Judy go through all this loss? What special people you and your family are . . . to care for so many in such a bad situation! As far as your kitties wanting you to help your son . . . It reminded me (albeit differently) of a story I relate to people about my beloved Panther. A few years ago I was working in my yard and heard a cat meowing in the distance. I looked and looked and listened and listened but could not find a cat anywhere. A few minutes later I went back into the house and just as I stepped through the door, Panther, who was sleeping in his basket jumped out of it and ran to the guest bedroom and stood outside the door. I noticed then that the door was closed (probably by the wind coming through the window). I opened it and lo and behold out comes a confused looking Precious (another cat). Apparently she had been meowing for someone to let her out when the wind shut the door. It was as if Panther was saying to me, "Come follow me. Precious is in trouble." I have always felt that some cats are more "human" than cat. If he is still sharp enough to mouse catch, he can see something! You might want to talk to Larry the Lurker about blind cats. He has one who has adapted very well to their tri-level house. When she gets stuck somewhere she just cries until they come and fetch her. He and Bette are very well trained. So blindness is just an inconvience as long as Jade stays healthy otherwise, that's what's important. barb ---------------------------------------- From: Newtanator@aol.com Date sent: Fri, 5 Jun 1998 21:20:01 EDT To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: strange problem??? Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Lynn, Gather some up and take it in to the vets. Let them figure out what it is. I've seen foamy light brown stool, usually VERY stinky which is from having coccidica, but never white stool! White or very very light stool is usually a sign of an absence of bile from the gall bladder. Do cats HAVE a gall bladder?? I'm not sure. barb ---------------------------------------- From: Newtanator@aol.com Date sent: Fri, 5 Jun 1998 21:24:35 EDT To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Long time no speak Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Mandy, A hardy pat on the back for you! 600 kittens!! that's amazing, that's more than amazing. I mean you should get an award or something! Our own shelter doesn't do that well. And the adults to, even harder to find homes for. I think we should all buy a bag of kitten food and send it to her or something. What a job you have done! barb ---------------------------------------- From: Newtanator@aol.com Date sent: Fri, 5 Jun 1998 21:28:27 EDT To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Judy's house Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Animals have an uncanny ability to know when we humans need help or comfort. On of my co workers just related to me yesterday that her daughter's dog came and woke up her daughter and husband up in the middle of the night all upset and ran to the babies room. The baby is a diabetic and has a seizure just prior to a low blood sugar attack. Just as they ran in the room, the baby started having her seizure and they were able to get immediate help. There is no doubt the dog somehow "felt" it coming and knew the baby needed help. Needless to say, that dog will have a home forever! barb ---------------------------------------- From: "Equinox Corp." Tessie's kitten and my baby Alice was an indoor cat never let outside inthe garden. But Tessie was an indoor/outdoor cat(until she tested +). Several times last summer unbeknown to me, Alice managed to sneak outside, and everytime Tessie came to the landing , began meowiing and managed to get my attention which immediately put an end to Alice's brief forays into the garden. First couple of times I thought it might be just a coincidence that Tessie wanted something else. But then one time Tessie was laying acroos the bottom of the stairs, blocking Alice's path with her body and meowing that made me understand somehow Tessie knew Alice wasn't supposed to be outside, and was communicating with me on that note. I was't really surprised but all along had thought that only dogs communicated with people at a level of understanding. Nancy, I'm truly sad about Panther. Have you managed to dry your tears yet? Please know that the pain of loss will get duller but doesn't seem to go away altogeher. The Uveitis in Jade's better eye is getting worse although the eye drops are slowing it down. I think that he's got about 1-2 weeks left until he's 100% blind. Besides the eye problems he seems to be fine. We made it so Jade couldn't get out of the yard so he sits out on the patio, and I didn't notice that he could get underneath the patio deck. I came home to see a dead mouse on my kitchen floor. So..at least he's active! His appetite is still up and he's affecionate as usual. I took him in today to see the specialist and he said that it's just a matter of time before he's blind. We also decided to drop his dose of Pred from twice daily to once daily since he seem's to be physically fine. He's getting the same amount of eye drops (2 drops each eye twice daily). Talk to you all later. Talking about cats being human. I recently had some surgery. I was a little sore and not walking very good. My Kitty was a perfect nurse. She would sleep by me on the sofa. Kiss my face when I'd slept too long or rolled over and stayed by my side the entire time I wasn't feeling fit. The minute I started feeling better, she reverted back to just being a "normal" cat. She's definitely a very special "person." Chaz slept close to me but wasn't quite sure what was going on. He did stay in the same room I was in. He's a little boy so maybe he isn't big enough to understand yet. I truly believe my cats are just furry people with great personalities and more love than many real humans. Doesn't sound right. Hope ya'all know what I mean.
