Saturday May 30, 1998 19 Messages ====================================== From: WORKPARK@aol.com Date sent: Sat, 30 May 1998 04:22:57 EDT To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Rissa-Tai (and Lai-Tai too) Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hi all, Before I get into how Rissa-Tai is doing, I just want to say that everyone on this list is just wonderful, and I'm so happy that we could help Jim out. Bravo to all of us! Rissa-Tai had her bi-weekly injections today, and while she was there, we found that her weight had gone from 6.14 lbs. from May 20 down to 6.8 lbs. Which is weird, considering that she looks better, and had been acting better. She doesn't look like she has lost weight, and considering her bloodwork, it's even stranger, because that all came back much better. Her rbc is up to 4.1 (from 2.1), hemoglobin is up to 7.0 from 3.8, pcv up to 23% from 12%, and the Hemobart is still negative (the vet didn't leave the wbc in her message). So, she's doing really well, and we started giving her the liquid DMG today as well, so we'll see how that helps her too. But, the vet is concerned since her body weight is down - it just doesn't go with the bloodwork we're seeing. Hopefully their scale was way off or something today (although I don't think it usually is). Anyway, we might just bring her in next week very quickly, if for nothing else, a body weight check. Lai-Tai, my older cat, had her teeth cleaned today, and we're having them run an IFA test on her again too (her last test was on Feb. 2, negative). Hopefully, we'll get the results soon. If it comes back positive, I know what to do. But, if it comes back negative again, is there anything we can do to keep her healthy (in addition to the FeLV vaccine)? She eats Science Diet mixed with a digestive enzyme (same as Rissa-Tai) and we're going to start mixing in the Ambrotose into that as well. Any suggestions? You're all wonderful! I guess once you get something like that stuck in your head it's tough to knock out. barb -------------------------------------- Date sent: Sat, 30 May 1998 10:20:07 -0400 To: felvtalk@MailingList.net From: Angela Holderby Subject: Lefty Update Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Thanks so much to all of you who wrote with advice and encouragement for me and Lefty. He is doing SO much better today. He has no fever and is back to his little rotten self. I was doing laundry in the basement and saw the two black flashes and realized that Lefty was chasing Poncho again. Yesterday, she did all the chasing. He is over his resentment of the vet visit, but he HATES the Clavamox Drops. He never fights when I give him medicine, but this one he really doesn't like at all. I have increased his Ambrotose and am continuing with the Pet-tinic. He is on his 'off' period for the Interferon (last dose was Wednesday) and he had an Immunoregulin injection Friday and will get another one next Friday. His weight was still at 9 lbs. which is great. I guess I panicked too soon, but I am still walking on pins and needles until we get past these next few weeks. Keep sending those good thoughts and vibes--they are really helping (both of us!). Angela. She is doing even better than it was hoped she would. Prior to surg her heart blood flow pressures were off the chart..>4 Now, nearly a month after the surg it is <1. They were very pleased and she has gained nearly a pound I think son Larry said. So even tho the cardiac surgeon had only done two before, he is now 3 for 3. Three done and three still alive and doing well. So even with a big hole their little hearts, there is hope! barb -------------------------------------- Date sent: Sat, 30 May 1998 07:09:01 -0400 From: Andrew Sherrod To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Rubin March 1986 - May 25,1998 Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Dear Gina, I'm so sorry for your loss........ I know Merlin would be picky and if I let one of the other cats come around, he would start eating again, like "hey, that's mine" . barb -------------------------------------- From: AskforArt@aol.com Date sent: Sat, 30 May 1998 20:48:45 EDT To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Beatrice Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Saliha--I don't think it's unusual at all for Beatirce to miss Tessie. Cats are communal animals and do not live alone if they are wild. I think it is a good idea for you both to have dinner together.......when Smitty died (18 years old, and not from FeLV) her best friend Gracie stopped eating completely. I had to resort to hand-feeding......that lasted about a month. She finally gave up looking for Smitty, but never became friends with any of the other cats, just stayed by herself. I think cats have more emotions than we realize. Linda P -------------------------------------- From: "Equinox Corp." Beatrice has lost some weight since Tessie's death. They weren't friends but they used to eat together. Now that tessie's gone Beatrice doesn't seem to eat as much as she used to. This may sound weird but if I sit on the floor and keep her company she seems more interested in eating. Do you think I'm imagining things or could it be that Beatrice is missing Tessie? Any suggestions, comments.. Thanks.
