Date: Sat, 23 May 1998 05:14:23 -0700 Reply-to: felvtalk@MailingList.net I am sitting here in the dark with my face all bloody. Stinker was sleeping next to me on my pillow as he does every night. I was awakened to Stinker attacking me and growling.:{ This time I just spoke to him softly to try and calm him down. Could not touch him! He just continued to growl in an attacking way. This is not like him at all. Stinker is a very affectionate cat and loves me more than anything as I love him. It kind of hurts my feelings.:( No not really cause I know it isn't me he is attacking personally. Yesterday, he was running up and down the hallway and playing outside. He seemed to be in a "good time". This is very baffleing. Guess I could just wear a mask to bed.:O) It's getting kind of spooky.:) Has anyone encountered this kind of problem before? Any ideas on why he is behaving this way? I guess I could ask my vet but he probably wouldn't know. I will ask him anyway. Think I will try and go back to bed.:{....................Lynn(mean cat!:)) -------------------------------------- From: "Steve Lackow" To: Subject: Re: Stinker attacks again!......... Suggest you ask your vet about valium for Stinker which may also help him eat, I've learned. And I'm afraid it sounds like you'll need to keep him out while you sleep, at least for a while. -- Steve -------------------------------------- From: "Moermond, Barbara" To: "'felvtalk@MailingList.net'" Subject: RE: Lucky crossed the bridge Date sent: Fri, 22 May 1998 09:10:39 -0500 Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Paula, our thoughts and prayers are with you. I honestly believe that our beloved fur- babies understand far more of what we say to them than most others believe. I think Lucky understood that you were giving him permission to go. That was extremely brave and un-selfish on your part. My thoughts are with you. Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Lynn, This is getting dangerous for you. Stinker could blind you. This is not normal behavior for Stinker. As you said, it certainly isn't for him. One possibility, tho not a pleasant one, is a brain tumor. Depending on where they are, they can cause sudden and unexpected outbursts of rage and aggression. I think you should discuss this behavior with your vet and perhaps a CAT scan, just to be safe. Other than you somehow roll over on him or pinch or frighten him somehow in your sleep, I am at a loss. Merlin's personality never changed, but I believe his was behind the eyes, where it seems to be most previlant in our FeLV cats from the reports on the list. Keep us informed. barb -------------------------------------- From: "Cheri Gardiner" To: Subject: Re: Candle Ceremony Date sent: Sat, 23 May 1998 07:00:29 -0600 Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Susan, The grey tabby from Little Rock is still alive. I think it vastly more important on this, Memorial Day Weekend, to send our thanks and gratitude to all the Veterans on our list and Veterans everywhere. Not just Veterans, but to those who still wear the uniform of our country as well. So if you go to a parade and see someone with a uniform on that maybe doesn't fit quite as well as it used to, proudly saluting our flag, walk up and shake his hand (or her) and say "Thank You for all you did for us." I send a personal "Thank you" to my own brother, Larry the Lurker, who spent more time away from his family than he cares to remember in the service of his country. What they have done for us, in the two centuries plus we have been in existance as a free country, we can never repay, except to remember them, thank them and pick up the torch when the turn is ours and never forget what they fought and died for. barb -------------------------------------- Date sent: Sat, 23 May 1998 08:01:56 -0400 From: Andrew Sherrod To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Lost babies....... My mother and father were both Veterans of World War II, and are buried at Portland National Cemetary. My father served in all four years of the war in the European and Pacific theaters, was also a Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, and served his country for 30 years in the USAF. I am proud of the sacrifices and contributions they made for this country, and I would like them to be remembered this weekend. Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Oh Lynn, that must have been very frightening. I know what you mean about taking it personally. That is just human. I know when Lefty about tore my leg off the other day when I tried to give him his medicine, I was offended for a few seconds, then, like you, I remembered that he does love me and I know that. Although, your situation is a little different, I think it is possible that maybe he is in some sort of temporary discomfort when he does that. The fact that he continues to growl after the attack instead of running away kind of makes me think that he needs a few seconds to get over whatever caused him to attack. Maybe some others out there have had some experience with this. I am sorry that you were injured this time. Maybe it would be possible to keep Stinker behind you when you sleep? Then, at least he wouldn't get your face. Let us know what happens. Angela. Our veterans do deserve our deepest gratitude. It just occurred to me that our Monday candle service might be seen as disrespectful by some. This was just a coincidence. I chose Monday (9 pm EST) because that is when many others around the world perform the ceremony for their sick and ailing pets. Sorry to Larry and others. We can do the ceremony on Sunday or Tuesday just this week if that would be more appropriate. You keep it scheduled just as you have it. There's room enough for all of us. I have more respect for the lost little ones then some people I've run across in my lifetime. I am fortunate enough to live in an area that still greatly acknowledges the sacrifice of former and current service men and women. The town close to us has the oldest Memorial Day Parade in the country and it is so very tasteful and respectful. A very dear friend of ours just passed away about a month ago and he always led off the parade. This man was a prisoner in the Korean War and survived on the peelings of the potatoes he peeled for enemy soldiers. He was always a very tiny man because he nearly died of starvation and when he came home he just never got big again. I could not look at this dear sweet man without wondering what my life would have been like if they had not been so willing to risk all for my freedom. I have a special place in my heart for all of our veterans and I have always made it a priority to teach my children to have respect and honor for those who fought to make our lives great. So, for my dear precious friend Radford, and the many many others on this list and around the world who gave up so much for us--I offer all the respect, love and honor I have to them and their memories. Angela. We love you Radford--our loss is Heaven's gain. -------------------------------------- Date sent: Sat, 23 May 1998 14:51:21 +0000 From: LawBet Subject: Re: Memorial Day Thank You To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Organization: Home for Wayward Felines Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Angela, Your respect, love and honor are humbley accepted and deeply appreciated.
