I checked out the other two that give errors, and it looks like that web site is undergoing some overhauls. So, they may be back up soon- or not at all. I'll check it again in a few days to see. Thanks for letting me know about these "bad links"- just goes to show the dynamic nature of the internet. Please let me know if y'all find any other bad links, and I'll try to fix them asap. Also, the archives are finally back up-to-date, so folks can start reading them again. I apologize for the delays, and I hope to get caught up soon- if I haven't answered any private mail, please resend it and I'll get to it asap. I also want to extend my deepest sympathies to all who have recently lost their precious loved ones- Tessie, Selena, Fitz, Tucker, the poor prognosis for Arnie and Nina's lost kitties (I apologize if I forgot anyone) :( This is by far the hardest part of maintaining these projects. Take care, and best wishes to all- slices of cheescake are looming in the future! In loving memory of Vyvyan: March 20, 1988 - August 15, 1997 James G. She said the protocol she read was 2 injections per week for 2 weeks, then once a week for 20 weeks or until the cat tested negative. I told her I had read about the once a week, then every other week, eventually going to once a month deal and she said that would be fine. I have an appointment for Monday and would like to hear from some of you who have experience with this. This Dr. (Snider) is very accepting of any information I provide for her, so I will print out anything you send and give it to her. This could possibly benefit a lot of cats in this area since so few vets are willing to treat around here. I also personally know the girl who is the receptionist for the original vet I went to (the one who thought I should put the cats to sleep simply because they tested positive) and I am going to give her a hand full of my business cards (for my graphics business--they have my phone number on them) and just have her stash them on her desk. I am going to ask her to please refer anybody who has a felv+ cat to me before they make any hasty decisions. I would like to compile a packet of information that I could send to these people so that they can make an informed decision. I would very much appreciate anything anybody here is willing to send to me. Send it privately if you want. I would like for these people to be able to read about EVERY option available. So, if you are using holistic methods, experimental treatments, etc. I would love to hear from you. I am going to print the FAQ stuff also. I know this new vet will be happy to distribute the information and treat these cats and if the other vet is not receptive to the information, then I will recommend that his patients switch to this vet. I feel that these vets don't deserve the privilege of treating our animals if they are not going to offer us any options. Thanks. I truly feel for all of you who have lost loved ones recently. So, I want to ask permission before I send anything that might offend anyone. I found some adorable cat humor on the internet. Just funny stuff about "Cat Bathing as a Martial Art" (many of you probably read that one already) and "Rules if you are a cat with a house to run". They are all in good taste and very cute. They just make lite of that wonderful 'cat attitude' that we are all so attracted to. I just don't want anybody to think I am abusing this list or that I am ignoring the seriousness of this disease--I am not, but I also know that in addition to the pain and sadness we share, we need to share joy and laughter also. If anybody thinks this is not the place, please let me know and I won't send it. I assure you, I only mean this to uplift and give a little sunshine. Let me know.... Angela. (Finally able to see the sunshine after a couple of weeks adjusting to the felv+ lifestyle. There is life after a positive diagnoses and Lefty and Poncho are showing me that they can still bring me unbelievable happiness!) -------------------------------------- From: "James G. However, it might be best just to post web addresses of places where this humor exists- for various reasons, it may not be appropriate for some folks. I've found a web address that contains both stories you mention and quite a few more. So, folks that want to read these can visit: http://www.nanceestar.com/CatHumor.html If some folks don't have web access, perhaps you and/or others can send these jokes and stories to them privately. I wanted to ask before I started distributing them. BY ALL MEANS!!! Sorry to shout, but the main goal of putting that information on the internet is to get it to as many people as possible. If we could get everyone on this list (and others?) to print out this information and send it to every vet in their area (a minimal cost doing it that way), I think we could reach quite a few of them- remember, most vets still aren't on-line. They have been taking it since December, 1997. Prednisolone is a form of Prednisone that is supposed to be easier on the liver. My veterinarian says that the Prednisolone keeps their blood profiles looking good. He has not been impressed with the use of Immunoregulin or similar treatments. One cat has just concluded a course of treatment for a lymphoma that included radiation and chemotherapy. Both cats are doing well. However, I have seen some negative comments about the use of Prednisone. What problems should I be looking for? Thank you for your help. -------------------------------------- To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Date sent: Wed, 6 May 1998 19:39:27 -0400 Subject: Re: Leia From: naohalloran@juno.com (Naomi J O'Halloran) Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Barb, Great to hear that little Leia did well yesterday!
